Full job description

About Orin Group
Orin Group is a Vancouver-based real estate firm managing a growing portfolio of residential and commercial properties across BC. We're a tight-knit team that values precision, ownership, and people who like getting the details right.

The role
We're looking for a Senior Accountant to take ownership of full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of properties. You'll work with our finance and property management teams from our Vancouver office four days a week, with one flexible work-from-home day, playing a lead role in monthly close, reporting, and year-end. This is a great fit for someone who wants a senior seat on a growing team where their work directly shapes how the business runs.

What you'll do

  • Manage full-cycle accounting for assigned properties, including AR, AP, GL, and bank reconciliations
  • Own the monthly close and prepare financial statements, budget vs. actual reporting, and owner reports
  • Handle CAM reconciliations, recoveries, and year-end working papers
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax preparers
  • Support property managers with budgeting, forecasting, and ad-hoc financial analysis
  • Maintain accurate records in our property management software (Yardi / Spectra / similar)
  • Help refine internal processes and reporting as our portfolio grows

Technical skills we're looking for

  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 in property management or real estate
  • CPA designation preferred (or working toward it)
  • Strong working knowledge of Yardi, Spectra, or comparable PM accounting platforms
  • Solid Excel skills and comfort with high-volume transaction work

Soft skills that will help you thrive here

  • Ownership mindset. You treat your portfolio like it's your own — nothing falls through the cracks, and you follow through without needing to be chased.
  • Clear, plain-language communicator. You'll explain numbers to property managers and owners who aren't accountants — clarity matters more than jargon.
  • Collaborative and approachable. Our finance and property management teams work side by side. We're looking for someone who picks up the phone, asks questions early, and shares context generously.
  • Calm under deadline pressure. Month-end, year-end, and audit season come every year. We need someone who stays organized and unflappable when things stack up.
  • Curious and improvement-minded. If you spot a process that could be cleaner or a report that could be more useful, we want to hear about it.
  • Discretion and integrity. You'll be working with confidential financial information for owners, tenants, and the firm. Trust is non-negotiable.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year

  • Dental care
  • Extended health care
  • Paid time off
