About Us

Columbia Bitulithic is a recognized name in British Columbia's road construction industry. Following the recent acquisition of the Prince George asphalt plant and related assets, Columbia Bitulithic has returned to the Northern BC market under new ownership.

While the name has a long history in the region, today's Columbia Bitulithic combines an experienced local workforce with a fresh approach to asphalt paving, highway construction, municipal infrastructure, and aggregate production.

We are building a team focused on safety, quality, accountability, and long-term relationships with our clients and communities. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager to help lead the successful delivery of our projects throughout Northern British Columbia.

The Opportunity

Reporting to senior leadership, the Project Manager will oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of asphalt paving, road construction, municipal infrastructure, and aggregate-related projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with Superintendents, Foremen, plant personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional who enjoys being actively involved in both project execution and field operations. As Columbia Bitulithic continues to grow, there will be opportunities for increased leadership and operational responsibility

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Execution

· Lead projects from tender handoff through completion and closeout.

· Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and work plans.

· Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.

· Monitor project performance and ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.

· Maintain regular site presence and support field operations as required.

· Work closely with Superintendents and Foremen to ensure alignment between project objectives and field execution.

Financial & Contract Management

· Prepare and maintain project budgets, cost reports, and forecasts.

· Track productivity, quantities, equipment utilization, and project costs.

· Manage change orders, progress billings, and contract administration.

· Review and administer subcontracts and supplier agreements.

· Identify and mitigate project risks through proactive planning and communication.

Technical Oversight

· Review and interpret civil drawings, specifications, contracts, and tender documents.

· Coordinate with consultants, engineers, owners, and regulatory agencies.

· Support quality control and quality assurance initiatives.

· Ensure compliance with project specifications, contract requirements, and applicable regulations.

Asphalt, Paving & Aggregate Operations

· Support asphalt paving and road construction operations throughout project delivery.

· Coordinate with asphalt plant personnel to ensure production aligns with project requirements.

· Assist with aggregate supply and crushing coordination where required.

· Develop an understanding of production and operational requirements to support efficient project execution.

Client & Stakeholder Relations

· Maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, municipalities, and industry partners.

· Participate in project meetings and provide regular reporting on project status.

· Represent Columbia Bitulithic in a professional manner and contribute to the continued growth of the business.

Safety & Leadership

· Promote a strong safety culture and lead by example.

· Ensure compliance with company safety programs and regulatory requirements.

· Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to project coordinators and field personnel.

· Foster a collaborative and solutions-focused work environment.

Qualifications

Experience

· 7+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, roadbuilding, asphalt paving, or related industries.

· Demonstrated success managing construction projects from initiation to completion.

· Experience with municipal, highway, or transportation infrastructure projects preferred.

· Asphalt paving, aggregate production, or crushing experience is considered an asset.

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of:

· Asphalt paving operations

· Road construction methods and sequencing

· Earthworks and granular base construction

· Contract administration

· Project scheduling and cost control

· Equipment utilization and production tracking

Leadership & Communication

· Strong organizational and project management skills.

· Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

· Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

· Practical problem-solving approach and strong attention to detail.

Certifications & Licenses

· Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.

· PMP, P.Eng., AScT, or related designation considered an asset.
