Full job description

Outlook Eyewear is a Mississauga-based company that develops, sources, and imports private label sunglasses for major retailers across Canada. We are looking for a hands-on Product Development Manager to help create commercially successful sunglass assortments for our retail partners.

This is a physical consumer product role focused on sunglasses, fashion accessories, colour direction, branding, sample development, retailer presentations, and overseas supplier coordination. It is not a software product management, app development, UX, or technical product owner role.

About the Role

The Product Development Manager will work closely with our internal team, retail customers, and overseas suppliers to develop seasonal sunglass programs. Much of the role involves applying colour, lens, finish, logo, packaging, and retailer-specific treatments to existing sunglass molds, rather than designing new frames from scratch.

The ideal candidate has experience in fashion accessories, eyewear, retail buying, merchandising, product development, private label, or consumer goods, and enjoys combining creative judgment with commercial thinking and strong attention to detail.

This is a Mississauga-based, in-office role. Candidates must already be located within a reasonable commuting distance of Mississauga, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop seasonal sunglass assortments for Canadian retail customers
  • Apply colourways, lens tints, frame finishes, logo treatments, packaging direction, and retailer-specific branding to existing sunglass molds
  • Review market trends, competitor products, colour direction, materials, pricing, and retail fashion trends
  • Work with internal sales, merchandising, sourcing, and operations teams to build programs that meet retailer needs, price points, margin goals, and delivery timelines
  • Prepare and review product specifications, sample comments, colour references, logo placements, packaging details, and product information
  • Communicate with overseas suppliers regarding samples, pricing, MOQs, lead times, quality expectations, and production details
  • Track sample development, approvals, revisions, and launch timelines across multiple customer programs
  • Support seasonal presentations to retail customers, including product selection, assortment rationale, and trend direction
  • Analyze sales history, customer feedback, sell-through, returns, and market information to improve future product assortments
  • Maintain accuracy across product codes, descriptions, pricing, colours, packaging details, and customer requirements

Qualifications

  • 2–6 years of experience in product development, merchandising, buying, sourcing, fashion accessories, eyewear, apparel, consumer goods, or private label retail
  • Strong eye for colour, proportion, branding, finishes, fashion trends, and commercial product presentation
  • Experience working with physical products, samples, specifications, packaging, and vendor communication
  • Understanding of retail assortments, customer profiles, price points, margins, and product lifecycle timelines
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to catch small product, colour, logo, packaging, or specification errors
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects, samples, deadlines, and customer programs at the same time
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint, and general computer skills
  • Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop experience is an asset
  • Experience with eyewear, sunglasses, fashion accessories, apparel, cosmetics, footwear, handbags, or other style-driven consumer products is an asset
  • Experience working with overseas factories or suppliers is an asset
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with sales, sourcing, operations, vendors, and retail customers

Who This Role Is Best Suited For

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys product, fashion, retail, colour, branding, and assortment building, but who is also highly organized, detail-oriented, and commercially minded. You do not need to be a pure designer, but you should have a good eye and the ability to turn retailer needs and market trends into products that can sell.

Compensation

Salary range: $60,000–$70,000 per year, based on experience.

Location

Mississauga, Ontario
