The Assistant Buyer supports LL Bean Canada’s Merchandising team in executing seasonal apparel assortments. Working closely with Buyers and Planners, this role focuses on sales analysis, inventory management, purchase order support, and day-to-day buying operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their merchandising or buying career who is analytical, detail-oriented, and excited to grow within a heritage retail brand.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and maintain weekly sales, inventory, and margin reports
  • Analyze SKU-level performance, sell-through, and size curves
  • Monitor best sellers and underperformers to support in-season decision making
  • Support seasonal recaps and post-season analysis

Buying & Assortment Support

  • Assist Buyers with placing and tracking buys for assigned apparel categories
  • Support assortment planning through historical sales analysis and trend review
  • Maintain assortment trackers, open SKU lists, and stock models
  • Update costing and product information to support margin and planning accuracy

Inventory Management & Replenishment

  • Monitor inventory levels and Never Out of Stock (NOS) programs
  • Support replenishment planning for core and basic apparel styles
  • Help manage replenishment triggers to maintain healthy stock levels

Operations & Cross-Functional Support

  • Maintain merchandising tools, workbooks, and systems with high accuracy
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Planning, Allocation, Supply Chain, and other partners
  • Support ad hoc projects that improve merchandising processes and reporting

What You’ll Bring

Analytical & Detail-Oriented

  • Strong analytical skills with experience working with sales and inventory data
  • High attention to detail when managing SKUs, purchase orders, and costing information

Collaboration & Communication

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate clearly with internal partners
  • Organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities

Merchandising & Customer Mindset

  • Strong interest in apparel merchandising and assortment planning
  • Customer-first mindset with an understanding of how inventory and product decisions impact the customer experience

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience as Buying Assistant, Merchandising, Planning, or Allocation roles
  • Exposure to sales analysis, inventory management, assortment planning, or purchase order support
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Fashion, or a related field (preferred)
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with spreadsheets and retail math
  • Experience working with SKU-level data and reporting tools
