Full job description

Some jobs are about maintaining what already exists.

This is not one of those jobs.

We are a large-format retail business in the Greater Victoria Area — locally owned, entrepreneurial in spirit, and backed by the strength of a major national brand. We are undertaking a complete reinvention of how our business operates behind the scenes.

That means redesigning warehouse operations from the ground up.
Rebuilding product flow systems.
Implementing automation.
Commissioning a newly acquired offsite processing and storage facility.
And creating operational systems that are smarter, faster, more scalable, and more enjoyable for people to work within.

We are looking for the person who wants to lead that transformation.

Not someone who simply manages processes — someone who sees systems where others see chaos. Someone who enjoys building structure, solving operational puzzles, improving flow, and turning ambitious ideas into disciplined execution.

This role sits at the intersection of operations, engineering, logistics, systems thinking, leadership, and practical problem solving. It is strategic and hands-on at the same time. Some days will involve planning workflows and business rules; others will involve standing in the middle of a warehouse with a team, solving real-world problems in real time.

You will report directly to the owner and play a major role in shaping the future of the business.

This is probably not a role you imagined yourself applying for. But if you are the right kind of person, it may become the most interesting work of your career.

Who You Are

You are deeply motivated by efficiency, process, and continuous improvement. You think in systems. You enjoy creating order and clarity in complex environments. You are technically minded, but equally strong with people.

You know how to:

  • Analyze operational flow and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and implement disciplined processes
  • Balance practical realities with long-term scalability
  • Lead teams through change with clarity and confidence
  • Build accountability without creating bureaucracy
  • Translate ideas into execution

You are energized by challenge and ownership. You take pride in building things properly.

You may come from operations, engineering, logistics, construction, automation, IT systems, manufacturing, planning, or another technical discipline where structured thinking and execution matter.

Qualifications

We are less concerned with traditional titles and more interested in how you think.

You likely have:

  • A university degree in engineering, operations, business, or a related field

or

  • A technology diploma or technical education in IT, planning, construction, automation, logistics, or a related discipline

Most importantly, you have learned how to approach complex problems creatively while executing with discipline and consistency.

What Makes This Opportunity Different

  • A chance to help redesign an entire operational ecosystem
  • Significant autonomy and direct access to ownership
  • The ability to influence decisions and see your ideas implemented quickly
  • A rare combination of strategic thinking and practical execution
  • A business large enough to be ambitious, but local enough to move fast
  • Long-term growth potential for the right person

Compensation

Compensation is expected to be in the range of $100,000 – $190,000, depending on experience, capability and education.

If you are someone who enjoys solving meaningful operational challenges and building systems that genuinely improve how a business works, we would like to hear from you.
