Position Title:

Child & Youth Assistant

Classification:

Full-Time Permanent (upon successful completion of probation)

Salary Range:

$20.00-$26.00 (commensurate with qualifications and experience).

Start Date:

August 10, 2026

Location:

MAGNETAWAN FIRST NATION, 10 Highway 529, Britt, ON P0G 1A0

Hours of Work:

Monday to Wednesday (8am – 5:30pm) Thursday 8am – 4:30pm (or as projects and deadlines dictate)

POSITION SUMMARY

Magnetawan First Nation’s Child & Family Centre is now accepting applications to fill the position of Assistant. The incumbent of this position is responsible for providing safe, nurturing and stimulating early learning environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Provide supervision and guidance in a balance of active/quiet; indoor/outdoor; and individual/group activities.

· Plan and implement activities in accordance with the Centre’s philosophy and goals.

· Promote activities that encourage problem-solving, independence, positive self-esteem, and confidence.

· Work collaboratively with and in accordance with all staff in a team environment.

· Ensure activity room equipment, toys, materials, and play areas are sanitized regularly.

· Adheres to all policies and procedures of Magnetawan First Nation and any other relevant policies and procedures from external agencies and partners.

· Performs other related duties as required and requested by the IELCC Program Supervisor.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE· First Aid & CPR Certificate.

· Must possess excellent organizational and time-management skills.

· Must have proficient level of communication skills, verbal and written.

· Knowledge of Anishinaabe customs and traditions is considered an asset.

· Must be comfortable supporting children for 4 to 8 hrs/day.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

· This position requires the individual to work with various families, youth, and children. To protect children, youth and vulnerable persons, Magnetawan First Nation requires the individual to provide an up-to-date vulnerable sector check.
