J-Con Civil Ltd. is a growing civil construction company specializing in underground infrastructure, sewer and watermain projects, shoring, and site work across Manitoba. We’re seeking a skilled and safety-focused Excavator Operator to join our experienced crews on critical municipal and private infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work effectively around underground and overhead utilities while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols and contributing to a safe working environment for the entire crew.
  • Proactively anticipate crew needs: organize and stage materials in the correct sequence and at the required pace to support efficient operations.
  • Track material quantities on site and promptly alert the Foreman when replenishment is required.
  • Maintain situational awareness of all site activities to support overall jobsite safety, coordination, and productivity.

  • Collaborate closely with the crew and supervision to meet project schedules and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of verifiable excavator operating experience in underground/sewer and watermain construction (critical infrastructure preferred).
  • Strong understanding of safe hoisting practices, grade control, utility avoidance, and signal communication.
  • Proven ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Class 1A license is considered a strong asset.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-minded with good communication skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (Manitoba winters included).

What We Offer

  • Competitive wages based on experience (top industry rates).
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • Opportunities for growth within a stable, expanding company.
  • Company equipment and tools.
  • A team-oriented culture that values safety, quality, and efficiency on every project.

Work Remotely: No – This is a field-based position requiring daily presence on active construction sites in the Winnipeg area and occasional travel within Manitoba.
