Job Overview
Gudgeon Thermfire is a growing fabrication-focused company committed to quality workmanship, safety, and reliability. We are seeking a skilled Fabricator/Welder to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fabricating, welding, and assembling metal components with precision and adherence to blueprints and drawings. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency in various welding techniques, and the ability to operate a range of tools and machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders.
  • Perform MIG and TIG welding on steel and aluminum components
  • Fabricate parts and assemblies according to drawings and specifications
  • Operate cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment safely for material handling and positioning
  • Prepare materials (cutting, grinding, fitting and finishing)
  • Measure parts with precision tools to ensure proper fit and tolerances
  • Inspect welds and finished parts to ensure quality standards are met
  • Work collaboratively with shop staff and supervisors

Skills

  • Proven experience with MIG and TIG welding
  • Experience welding aluminum is required
  • Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, calipers, and basic math skills for measurements and calculations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Welding certification is an asset (but not required, depending on experience)
