Richardson Oilseed is one of Canada’s oldest and largest fully integrated oilseed processing and packaging operations with three facilities across Canada. In addition to producing bulk canola oil and meal, our food products division produces a wide variety of canola-based margarines, oils, and shortenings for the industrial, retail and foodservice markets.

Working with Richardson opens the door to a world of possibility. We currently have an opportunity for an 2nd Class - Shift Power Engineer at our Yorkton - Oilseed location. The 2nd Class - Shift Power Engineer will assist the Shift Engineer with operation of the Process Boilers, Steam Distribution and Condensate Return System, the Ammonia Refrigeration System, the Compressed Air System and the Fire Protection System.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the operation of the Deodorization process and hourly Deodorized oil testing
  • Performs annual turnaround maintenance on the equipment that we operate
  • Act as primary control panel operator for the Utility systems and Deodorizing
  • Operate Ammonia Refrigeration Equipment
  • Operate Cooling water system
  • Operating and monitoring all process parameters
  • Troubleshooting any process upsets
  • Filter changes as required on feed and discharge of deodorizing
  • Operate High Pressure Steam Generator and respond to any upset conditions
  • Monitoring finished oil quality and responding as required to upset conditions
  • Maintain operational log sheets and perform finished oil quality testing as required
  • Understand and comply with all workplace health and safety requirements, company policies and procedures and general workplace rules
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent plus a 2nd Class Power Engineer license
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Boiler and Cooling water system operation and Process operation experience
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good practical knowledge of all branches of engineering
  • Good knowledge of the plant process and related equipment
