Our shift coverage services provide clients with on-call staffing solutions to supplement their existing workforce, ensuring facilities are fully staffed by highly qualified and experienced Power Engineers.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled 4th Class Power Engineer to support operations across multiple client facilities. This role involves traveling to client sites to fill staffing shortages and ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operation of boiler, refrigeration, and other facility systems. The ideal candidate will be easily adaptable, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently or collaboratively with client teams and contractors.

TFM currently has both full and part-time positions available.

Key Responsibilities

● Operate boiler and refrigeration systems in accordance with client SOPs, legislative requirements, and best practices.

● Ensure facility compliance with applicable regulations and standards.

● Perform routine rounds and inspections of plant systems to ensure safe and efficient operations.

● Conduct preventative maintenance tasks as requested by client work orders and staff.

● Perform general repairs and upkeep of facility infrastructure, including HVAC, plumbing systems, material handling and dock equipment, and building automation systems.

● Inspect instruments (valves, gauges, meters, alarms, etc.) to detect malfunctions and abnormal conditions.

● Troubleshoot issues and perform corrective actions to prevent system failure.

● Maintain accurate logbooks and daily records of operations, maintenance, and safety activities.

● Report operational deficiencies to appropriate parties.

● Report issues with plant performance and compliance.

● Assist client staff with general tasks and operational needs, both inside and outside of the mechanical room.

● Assist contractors to support facility projects and repairs.

● Communicate effectively with system operators and other stakeholders.

● Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations as required in accordance with emergency procedures.

Requirements

● Valid 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate or higher, issued by Technical Safety BC.

● Minimum two years of experience working as a 4th Class Power Engineer.

● Experience operating both boilers and refrigeration equipment is required.

● Valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence (or equivalent).

● Familiarity with computerized DDC systems and plant instrumentation.

● Ability to interpret technical manuals and SOPs.

● Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

● Ability to adapt to new work environments.

● Travel throughout the lower mainland will be required.

● Monday through Friday availability is preferred.

● Part-Time: Must be willing and able to work a minimum of 2 shifts per week. More is preferred.

● Building Operator experience is an asset.
