The College of Nursing, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, invites applications for a full-time tenured or probationary (tenure-track) position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. This position is intended for Clinician Scientists whose work advances nursing-relevant knowledge through interdisciplinary, systems-level, population, or global perspectives.

The successful candidate will contribute to the College’s mission through research, teaching, and service that strengthen health systems, address health inequities, and improve population and global health outcomes. College of Nursing Profile:

The College of Nursing is one of six colleges within the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences (RFHS) at the University of Manitoba. The College of Nursing offers both undergraduate and graduate programs. The Bachelor of Nursing (BN) program is a concept-based curriculum with the integration of leading-edge simulation learning and virtual reality. The BN program is also delivered in partnership with the University College of the North in The Pas and Thompson. The Bachelor of Midwifery program resides under the College of Nursing. The Mahkwa omushki kiim (Pathway to Indigenous Nursing Education) provides undergraduate students with Indigenous ancestry with academic and personal supports to facilitate success.

At the graduate level, the College of Nursing offers a Master’s Program with four streams, including Nurse Practitioner (NP), administration, education and clinical practice streams. The Nurse Practitioner program is approved through the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba and is one of the first NP programs in Canada to be accredited through the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing. In addition, the College offers a PhD Program in Nursing.

The Manitoba Centre for Nursing and Health Research (MCNHR) is a research unit within the College of Nursing. The MCNHR is the only research centre in Manitoba that is solely dedicated to facilitating and supporting collaborative nursing and health research. The College has clinical practice and research links with other universities nationally and with several research institutes in Manitoba. We are proud of our four Research Chairs: a Canada Research Chair in Child and Family Engagement in Health Research and Healthcare; a Health Sciences Centre Clinical Chair; a Riverview Health Centre Research Chair in Person-Directed Living; and a Mindermar Professor in Human Simulation, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences.

ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE/FULL PROFESSOR (CLINICIAN SCIENTIST STREAM)

The College of Nursing invites applications for a Clinician Scientist position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. This position is intended for a scholar who integrates clinical practice, research, and health system engagement to advance nursing practice, patient outcomes, and population health.

The successful candidate will maintain a robust, externally funded program of research that is embedded within clinical practice and responsive to the needs and priorities of the Manitoba health system and the populations it serves. As a Clinician Scientist, the candidate will generate impactful knowledge through practice-informed inquiry, contributing to improved care delivery, health equity, and system transformation. Areas of focus may include, but are not limited to, Indigenous health, rural and northern health, chronic disease management, mental health, health services delivery, and culturally safe care.

The candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to knowledge translation and mobilization, ensuring that research is co-developed with patients, communities, and health system partners, and that findings are implemented in practice and policy contexts.

The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching, with a focus on building research capacity among students and clinicians. They will supervise graduate students and postdoctoral trainees, particularly clinically embedded or practice-based research, and serve on graduate committees as required.

The candidate will lead and participate in interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral research teams, working collaboratively with healthcare organizations (e.g., Shared Health, regional health authorities), community organizations, and Indigenous partners. Evidence of scholarly excellence appropriate to rank includes a clearly defined program of Clinician Scientist research; demonstrated impact on clinical practice, patient outcomes, or health systems; a strong record of peer-reviewed publications; success in securing competitive research funding; and meaningful engagement with clinical and community stakeholders. Mentorship of trainees and colleagues particularly in developing clinically integrated research is expected.

The successful candidate will provide service and leadership within the College, University, healthcare system, and broader professional communities, contributing to initiatives that advance clinical scholarship, health system improvement, reconciliation, and equity in healthcare.

• A PhD in Nursing or related discipline.

• Active registration (or eligibility for registration) as a Registered Nurse in Manitoba.

• Demonstrated expertise and ongoing engagement in clinical practice relevant to the candidate’s research program.

• A strong and evolving program of research consistent with Clinician Scientist principles, integrating clinical practice and research.

• Evidence of peer-reviewed publications and success in obtaining competitive research funding.

• Demonstrated ability to establish and sustain collaborative partnerships with healthcare organizations, Indigenous communities, and community-based stakeholders.

• Commitment to advancing Indigenous health, equity, diversity, inclusion, and culturally safe care.

• Proven excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and supervision at undergraduate and graduate levels.

• Demonstrated commitment to knowledge translation and measurable impact on practice, policy, and/or health systems.

• Capacity to supervise graduate students and mentor research staff in clinically embedded environments.

• A well-established and sustained program of externally funded Clinician Scientist research;

• Evidence of national and/or international recognition;

• A strong and consistent record of impactful publications;

• Demonstrated influence on clinical practice, health policy, or health system transformation;

• Leadership in interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral collaborations.
