Position Overview
Responsibilities
Photography & Video Production:
- Capture the majority of FortisBC’s photography and video, with the exception of high production value projects or overflow work.
- Capture photos/videos in various formats for print, digital, broadcast, and social media. Ensure requirements are aligned with briefs. Record audio as needed.
- Write photography briefs for non-campaign shoots using template and project briefs.
- Operate a drone.
- Apply studio lighting and may work with an assistant as needed.
- Obtain necessary release forms and approvals.
- Establish working relationships with business units for timely access to, and organization of self-organized photoshoots. Ensure all work complies with internal guidelines and safety standards.
- Upload all photography, video and release forms to the DAM (Digital Asset Management system). Tag assets with metadata and associate release forms to assets.
- Keep apprised of industry technological changes; maintain and ensure adherence to procedures pertaining to photography and video capture, editing and storage
Editing & Motion Graphics
- Perform editing for photography and/or videos (e.g. colour correction/grading, retouching, etc.).
- Create basic onscreen static and animated graphics, with Designer support for asset creation (lower thirds, intro/outro graphics, legal text, etc.).
Equipment Oversight:
- Maintain and manage equipment, condition and storage.
- Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties which do not affect the rating of the job.
Requirements
- Education: Successful completion of Diploma in Digital Media, Video/Media Production, Professional Photography, Visual Arts/Fine Arts or a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant and related experience working in photography and video production. Portfolio will be required. Preference given to corporate or agency experience.
- Strong knowledge and skills in studio lighting, digital asset management, and editing applications (Adobe Creative Cloud)
- Working knowledge of computer systems operations, environment and peripherals and various applications software in use in the department (SAP & suite of MS Office products).
- Ability to work independently and to be a self-starter.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills - ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with others.
- Excellent organizational, scheduling and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Valid BC drivers' license.
