Full job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Release Engineer (DRE) – Wiring to own the end-to-end design, development, and release of wiring harness systems for NAFTA vehicle applications.

In this role, you will be the technical anchor for specific wiring assemblies, ensuring they meet all functional, quality, and packaging requirements. You will work cross-functionally with packaging teams, manufacturing, and external suppliers to move designs seamlessly from concept to production, implementing industry best practices along the way.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design & Release: Responsible for the complete design, release, and engineering signing-off of vehicle wiring harnesses and related electrical components.

  • Supplier Management: Direct external supplier engineering resources to ensure components are designed, tested, and delivered on schedule and within technical specifications.

  • Packaging Integration: Collaborate closely with vehicle packaging teams to resolve complex routing, clipping, and thermal/abrasion protection challenges within the vehicle environment.

  • Data Integrity: Manage and update engineering data structures, maintaining strict accuracy within EBOM, Teamcenter, and NX CAD software.

  • Quality & Consistency: Standardize wiring design best practices across multiple vehicle platforms to ensure robust electrical system performance and high-quality vehicle launches.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline (e.g., Materials, Chemical, Civil, Aerospace, Computer) from an ABET-accredited university.

  • Experience: * Minimum of 8 years of experience in automotive electrical engineering.

    • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience working directly with electrical systems.

  • Technical Skills: * Strong automotive system-level engineering foundation.

    • Solid understanding of vehicle packaging and physical routing constraints.

    • Practical knowledge and proficiency in EBOM, Teamcenter, and NX.

  • Professional Skills:

    • Proven ability to coordinate technical tasks and lead small project initiatives/suppliers.

    • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

    • Ability to successfully navigate complex business and engineering situations.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.

  • DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) Green Belt certification.
