About ASK Environmental

ASK Environmental is a rapidly growing environmental consulting, occupational hygiene, and hazardous materials management company serving clients throughout Alberta. We provide occupational hygiene consulting, hazardous materials assessments, air monitoring, laboratory analysis, and remediation services for government, commercial, industrial, insurance, and construction clients.

We are seeking a motivated Junior Occupational Hygienist to join our team. This position is ideal for a graduate with a science degree looking to build a career in occupational hygiene, environmental consulting, and industrial health and safety.

Position Overview

The Junior Occupational Hygienist will assist with field investigations, environmental sampling, laboratory coordination, data analysis, and technical report preparation. The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced team while developing expertise in occupational exposure assessment and hazardous materials management.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct asbestos air monitoring during abatement projects
  • Perform occupational exposure assessments, including welding fume monitoring and particulate monitoring
  • Conduct indoor air quality investigations and environmental assessments
  • Collect bulk building material samples for asbestos analysis
  • Conduct site inspections and field investigations
  • Calibrate and operate occupational hygiene sampling equipment
  • Review laboratory results and interpret findings
  • Prepare technical reports and client deliverables
  • Maintain accurate field notes and project documentation
  • Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, regulators, and project stakeholders

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in any of the following areas will be given preference:

  • Asbestos air monitoring
  • Bulk asbestos surveys and sampling
  • Welding fume monitoring
  • Occupational exposure monitoring
  • Indoor air quality investigations
  • Mold and microbial assessments
  • Environmental consulting
  • Technical report writing

Education & Qualifications

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or a related scientific discipline
  • CRSP, CRST, OHST, ROH, CIH, or similar occupational health and safety designation
  • Eligibility to pursue professional occupational hygiene certifications

Required

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
