Full job description

The Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) is a self-regulating, not-for-profit organization that is governed by theArchitects Act, a statute of the Government of Ontario. Its principal object is to regulate the practice of architecture.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Policy and Government Relations, the Policy Analyst will support a variety of specific initiatives related to policy matters that are related to the architectural profession and that advance the OAAs public mandate.

Responsibilities

· Research, analyze and report on issues related the architectural profession

· Monitor, analyze and report on specific government initiatives and legislation

· Assist in the development and delivery of Council policies, programs and positions

· Assist in the development and delivery of various government relations and education tools, including briefing notes and backgrounders

· Support the development and implementation of the Association’s annual event at Queen’s Park

· Support the Policy Advisory Coordination Team and other Committees and Advisory Groups as assigned

· Conduct targeted media monitoring to identify emerging or evolving issues

Qualifications:

· Experience in policy and government relations

· Thrive in a fast-paced environment that involves ongoing and sometimes rapidly emerging files

· Creative thinker who is both detail- and deadline-focused

· Strong ability to research, analyze and synthesize information

· Experience creating briefs, position papers, official submissions, outreach and other related documents

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Post-secondary degree in policy, government relations or a related field

· Knowledge of municipal planning process is preferred

· Familiarity with the architecture/design/construction industry is preferred

Compensation

· $65,000 - $75,000/year, commensurate with experience
