Location
Successful applicants who are accepted as a cadet with the RCMP, will begin an extensive 26-week training program at Depot, the RCMP Academy in Regina, SK.

Successful cadets are posted to divisions and detachments according to vacancy rates and operational priorities to ensure effective policing and public safety.
While we continue to post cadets in every province and territory, vacancies exist across the country, applicants should be prepared to be posted anywhere in Canada.

While there you will receive a cadet recruitment allowance of $1000/week, free room and board, uniforms, training tools and courses, health insurance and travel to and from Regina.

Salary
When you graduate from training, in addition to our benefits package, the base rate of pay for Regular Member Constables starts at $71,191 with the potential of $115,350 within a few years.

• You have a Canadian secondary school (high school) diploma issued by one of the ministries of education for the provincial or territorial governments, or you have completed a degree, diploma, or certificate issued by a recognized Canadian university or college (refer to the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials).

If your secondary education was obtained outside of Canada, you will need to obtain an equivalency assessment completed by one of the organizations listed on the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials website, or provide proof of a completed degree, diploma, or certificate issued by a recognized Canadian university or college. If you do not have a secondary school (high school) diploma and have not completed a degree, diploma, or certificate issued by a recognized Canadian university or college, you will need to successfully complete a Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) or equivalent. For more information, contact your local board of education or adult learning centre. Please note: You will be asked to provide Canadian transcripts of high school marks (must indicate graduated) or an equivalency assessment.

• You are a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada. Individuals with permanent resident status must have resided (been physically present) in Canada for 3 (1,095 days) out of the last 5 years as a permanent resident.

If you are a Canadian citizen living outside of Canada for an extended period of time, it may be difficult to accurately evaluate your suitability to allow you to continue in the next steps of the application process.

• You are at least 18 years of age to . Note: While you can to the RCMP and go through the selection process and basic training at 18 years of age, you cannot be hired to work as a police officer until you are 19 years old.

• You are proficient in English and/or French

• You are physically fit and comfortable running, lifting, carrying, and performing daily moderate to intense physical exercise.

• You have a valid driver’s license. Note: Driver’s License will be requested during the process of your application.

• You are prepared and able to carry a gun and to use it or any other necessary physical force

• You are prepared to work shifts, including nights, evenings, weekends and holidays as policing takes place 24 hours per day

You must have a minimum of a Canadian secondary school (high school) diploma. If your education was obtained outside Canada, you must get an equivalency assessment. Contact the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials to find out which organizations across Canada perform these assessments (www.cicic.ca).

You must be physically fit at the time of application. Upon receipt of your application, you will be required to successfully complete the Police Fitness Assessment (PFA) Field Test which includes a 500-metre run, a repeated sandbag lift and carry, and a medicine ball toss. Preference will be given to veterans first, followed by Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of jobs located in Nunavut or Yukon. For positions located in Nunavut, qualified Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement will be appointed first. For positions located in Yukon, qualified Yukon First Nations will be appointed first, followed by qualified Indigenous persons.
