What This Role Is All AboutWe’re looking for a hands-on and reliable Maintenance Technician to support day-to-day operations at a Chard property. This role is key to maintaining the condition, safety, and comfort of our buildings. Whether it’s responding to resident service requests, maintaining building systems, or keeping common areas in top shape, you bring technical know-how and a positive, professional attitude to everything you do.
As a service-driven organization operating seven days a week, this site-based role requires flexibility in scheduling to support the needs of the building. As such, the schedule includes weekend work, either on a rotating basis or as a consistent requirement. Candidates must be available and comfortable working weekends.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Perform daily, weekly and preventive maintenance on building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and life safety equipment to keep everything running safely and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues as they come up — from routine fixes to more complex problems — with a focus on doing the job right the first time.
  • Complete all work orders to a high standard, prioritising safety, responsiveness and quality workmanship in every task.
  • Monitor building systems and equipment performance, flagging anything that looks off and recommending fixes or improvements before small issues become big ones.
  • Communicate clearly with your Maintenance Manager and property management team to keep operations running smoothly and residents well taken care of.
  • Log all completed work accurately in the CMMS, ensuring records are up to date and in line with applicable codes, health and safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies when needed.

What You’ll Bring
  • Flexibility in scheduling. Available to work weekends and evenings.

  • Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools, safety practices, and maintenance protocols
  • Experience with CMMS platforms is an asset
  • Experience using Yardi, Grata or other similar software is an asset
  • Trade certification or Building Operator training is a plus

Who You Are
  • A team player with a strong work ethic and service-first attitude
  • Technically minded and confident using tools, troubleshooting issues, and learning on the job
  • Reliable, organized, and proactive in your approach to maintenance tasks
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your time efficiently
  • Clear and respectful communicator with tenants, team members, and supervisors
  • Committed to safety, quality, and professional conduct at all times

How We Invest In YouAt Chard, we know that when our people thrive, our communities do too. That’s why we offer more than just a paycheque - we invest in your success, well-being, and sense of purpose.
  • Competitive salary and bonus plans aligned with market benchmarks and your experience.
  • Extended health and dental coverage as well as a health spending account to support what you need the most
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities, including custom programs built around our Uncommon Care philosophy
  • A clear commitment to internal mobility - we love to promote from within
  • A values-driven workplace rooted in trust, transparency, and teamwork
  • A supportive team that has your back when things get busy - or when you need a breather

This is an hourly role at $31.25 per hour, equivalent to approximately $65,000 annually based on a full-time schedule. We appreciate the time and interest of everyone who applies, but only candidates selected to move forward will be contacted.
