Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Maintenance Technician to become an integral part of our team in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This role is responsible for ensuring the impeccable maintenance and upkeep of our facilities. With Cressey’s dedication to quality top of mind, this role plays a vital part in creating a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for our tenants and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform minor carpentry tasks, such as repairing closet doors, securing drawers, fixing drywall, and handling painting touch-ups, ensuring suites are ready for turnover to new tenants.
  • Address minor plumbing issues, including replacing P-traps, U-pipes, tub cartridges, toilets, wax seals, and faucet systems in suites and common areas. Unblock toilets as needed.
  • Conduct minor electrical repairs, including light fixture replacements, light bulb changes, ballast upgrades, and range fan repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain sump pumps, ventilator units, exhaust fans, and heat pump units.
  • Perform minor balcony and fence repairs, as well as exterior touch-ups and painting as necessary.
  • Ensure proper equipment storage and clean or unclog drains and gutters when required.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
  • Assist in general troubleshooting tasks as needed.
  • Participate in snow removal and ice prevention efforts when necessary.
  • Support landscaping personnel with tasks such as leaf blowing and leaf removal.
  • Carry out garbage and recycling duties on designated pick-up days, while maintaining and cleaning the area daily.
  • Offer on-call maintenance coverage for one week once a month, in rotation with other team members.
  • Assist cleaning personnel as required.
  • Maintain the safety of common areas and adhere to Cascadia's Health and Safety requirements.
  • Offer maintenance coverage during holidays at other buildings and act as a substitute for the Resident Manager at your assigned building.
  • Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned from time to time.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience with basic maintenance of plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Proactive problem solver with a positive attitude.
  • Team player who can collaborate with colleagues and residents.
