Job Overview
Matrix HR is currently seeking a skilled Data Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity with a leading organization in the Utilities and Energy sector. This role is ideal for a data professional who enjoys building scalable data solutions, developing robust ETL/ELT pipelines, and supporting advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives in a cloud-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop data pipelines for batch and real-time processing
  • Build, maintain, and optimize data ingestion, storage, and transformation frameworks
  • Develop complex SQL queries and perform query tuning and optimization
  • Automate deployments, data workflows, and data quality validation processes
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists and ML Engineers to operationalize machine learning pipelines
  • Perform ETL/ELT processes using data from multiple sources
  • Support the design and evolution of cloud-based data platforms in AWS
  • Assist with data modeling and database design
  • Create and execute testing plans and test cases
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to software development best practices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data and application issues

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Data Engineering or Software Development with a strong focus on data backend development
  • Excellent Python programming skills
  • Strong SQL expertise, including query optimization and performance tuning
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles, data structures, and algorithms
  • Experience designing and building automated ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling concepts, including normalized, dimensional, star, and snowflake schemas
  • Experience working with multiple data storage technologies (RDBMS, NoSQL, Graph Databases, etc.)
  • Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and deployment automation
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or a related field
  • Advanced experience within the AWS ecosystem
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric
  • Experience working within Agile development environments

Pay: $65.64 per hour
