Full job description

Looking to start right away!

Are you looking for a studio with opportunities for career growth? We are looking for new team members who can demonstrate their skills and artistic talent, and the motivation to become our next head photographer or lead designer!

Studios Photography is a commercial photography studio serving clients in Edmonton and across Alberta. We have the largest studio in Northern Alberta, and pride ourselves on delivering portrait quality images to schools, sports teams, and other commercial clients.

The vast majority of our work is within the greater Edmonton area, with occasional work as far south as Calgary and Lethbridge (two or three times per year, in Jan/Feb).

We are looking for:

Professional Photographer and Editor

- You will use our full frame cameras, studio lighting, and related indoor and outdoor equipment to create images that shine. Photo editing and graphic design skills would make you an invaluable member of our team.

Job Requirements:

Understanding the manual settings and full operation of DSLR cameras, and experience applying these skills professionally. Experience with studio lighting and compensating for changing outdoor light quality is an asset.

All applicants:

- Your application to Studios Photography includes samples of your work that demonstrate your skills with graphic design, photography, and/or digital editing. Additional samples that demonstrate your ability with composition and the use of natural and artificial lighting in your images would be an asset.

- You have a valid drivers license AND a reliable vehicle - as we are often at various client locations in the Edmonton area (for longer trips outside the Edmonton area we will carpool, typically with company vehicles).

- You bring a creative and passionate approach to your artistry, and are also able to take direction and consistently follow the processes we have identified that provide optimal and timely results for our clients.

- You are physically able to transport, set up, and tear down mobile photography equipment, including stands, backdrops, lighting, etc.

- You must be outgoing and have excellent in-person and digital communication skills, and are comfortable working alone with our clients - including athletes, coaches, teachers, students, business owners, etc. This includes situations where you will be needing to coordinate the photography activities of medium and large groups.

- You are available for weekday, evening, and weekend shifts (days and hours vary for each client / season).

NOTE: As our studio is in partnership with local schools and youth sporting associations, successful candidates need to complete criminal record and child intervention checks.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

As a sports and school photographer, employment hours vary with the season: some months are very busy, others less so. Following the school and children's sports calendar means that you will have 6 weeks off in the summer and 2 weeks off over Christmas/New Years (during which our photographers are free to pursue their own photography / design projects (weddings/etc.).

- In Fall we are quite busy during daytime hours, Mondays-Fridays

- Nov/Dec/January our busy times shift to Weekday afternoons and evenings, and the odd Saturday morning/afternoon

- Feb/Mar we typically have Friday night to Sunday afternoon sports events (cheer competitions, etc.) on certain weekends

- March/April/May/June we are quite busy with Monday-Saturday work

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Seasonal, Casual

Benefits:

  • Company events
  • On-site parking

Experience:

  • Photographers: Courses and/or professional: 1 year (required)
  • Graphic design course work and professional: 1 year (required)

Language:

  • English (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Drivers Licence and Vehicle (required)
