Full job description

At Lil’ Angels Photography, we believe picture day should feel joyful, calm, and a little magical.

With more than 30 years of experience and partnerships with thousands of schools across North America, we are expanding in Canada this fall and looking for an Assistant Photographer / Photographer in Training to join our team.

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who loves working with young children and is interested in learning professional school photography. Photography experience is helpful, but it is not required. We will provide training, equipment, and hands-on support to help the right person grow into the role.

We’re looking for someone warm, patient, playful, and dependable—someone who can help a shy toddler smile, keep a busy picture day organized, and make every child feel comfortable, safe, and celebrated.

What the role looks like

Schedule

  • Pay: CA$110 per day
  • Typical schedule: 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM
  • Weekday morning availability is required
  • Photography season begins September 16th
  • Virtual training begins in August

What you’ll do

  • Assist the lead photographer during school picture days
  • Help position, engage, and encourage infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and pre-K children
  • Learn to photograph children using Lil’ Angels’ equipment, processes, and portrait standards
  • Help create a calm, playful, and positive experience for each child
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down photography equipment and backgrounds
  • Keep children organized and help picture day run smoothly and efficiently
  • Communicate warmly and respectfully with school staff
  • Help maintain a clean, tidy, and professional photography area
  • Represent Lil’ Angels with professionalism, positivity, and heart

What we’re looking for

  • A genuine love for working with children ages 0–5
  • Warm, upbeat, patient, and playful personality
  • Interest in photography and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to follow direction and work closely with a lead photographer
  • Reliable transportation
  • Punctual, dependable, and professional
  • Comfortable lifting and transporting photography equipment
  • Experience working with children, schools, childcare programs, or early childhood settings is a major plus
  • Photography or school photography experience is helpful, but not required

Why join Lil’ Angels?

  • Paid photography training and hands-on experience
  • Consistent weekday morning schedule
  • All photography equipment is provided
  • Opportunity to grow into a lead photographer role
  • Support from an experienced, people-first team
  • Meaningful and creative work with young children

At Lil’ Angels, we care deeply about the experience we create—not just the photos themselves. We’re looking for someone who brings warmth, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

To apply, please send your resume and tell us a little about your experience working with young children and your interest in photography.
