Full job description

Full-Time | Paid Training | Equipment Provided | Salary + Commission + Benefits

You're not just taking photos.

You're helping tell the story of a property.

At InsideOut Media, our work ranges from luxury waterfront homes and custom estates to commercial properties and everyday residential listings. Every project presents a new creative challenge and an opportunity to produce content that helps our clients stand out in a competitive market.

We're looking for an experienced Photographer & Videographer who combines strong technical skills with excellent client service. Someone who can work independently, adapt to different environments, and consistently deliver work they're proud of.

If you enjoy visual storytelling, creating high-quality media, building relationships with clients, and working in a role where every day looks a little different, we'd love to hear from you.

About Us

InsideOut Media is a growing real estate media company serving Ottawa and the surrounding region.

We work with a wide range of properties, including luxury homes, waterfront properties, condos, residential listings, and commercial spaces.

Our team combines the professionalism and systems of a larger agency with the personal service and client relationships of a boutique company. We work closely with our clients and take pride in delivering both exceptional media and exceptional customer service.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Photographer & Videographer to join our team full-time.

This is a field-based position that combines photography, videography, editing, client service, and independent problem-solving.

You'll work directly with real estate agents and homeowners while capturing high-quality media content that helps market properties effectively.

This position is ideal for someone who already has a strong foundation in photography, videography, and editing, and is excited to continue developing their skills within a growing company.

What You'll Do

  • Travel to residential and commercial properties throughout the Ottawa region
  • Capture professional real estate photography and videography
  • Operate company-provided cameras, drones, and equipment
  • Edit photos and videos according to company standards
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners and real estate professionals
  • Manage appointments independently while representing the company in the field
  • Follow established workflows and quality standards
  • Upload and organize project files accurately
  • Deliver a professional client experience at every appointment

Schedule & Availability

  • Full-time position
  • Monday through Friday availability required
  • Typical shooting hours are approximately 9:00 AM to 3:00-4:00 PM
  • Editing is completed following appointments
  • Daily workload and appointment volume naturally fluctuate throughout the year based on the real estate market
  • Additional evening or twilight shoots may be available and are paid as overtime
  • Weekend work is optional and paid as overtime

This role involves significant driving throughout Ottawa and surrounding communities, including areas such as Rockland, Almonte, Kemptville, Chelsea, Russell, and nearby markets.

Candidates should reside within the Ottawa area and be comfortable driving regularly between appointments.

Compensation & Benefits

Paid Training

  • Four-week paid training program
  • $900 per week during training
  • Approximately 30 hours per week during onboarding

Compensation After Training

  • Base Salary: $65,000-$70,000 CAD annually
  • 10% commission on revenue generated from completed shoots
  • Typical annual commission earnings: approximately $15,000-$17,000 CAD
  • Expected first-year earnings: approximately $80,000-$87,000 CAD
  • Salary and commissions paid bi-weekly
  • Guaranteed 3% annual salary increase
  • Career advancement opportunities within the company

This is a salaried position, meaning you’ll receive consistent bi-weekly pay throughout the year regardless of seasonal fluctuations in appointment volume.

Some weeks may be busier than others, and some may be lighter, but your base salary remains the same. Additional evening, twilight, weekend appointments, and commissions provide opportunities for increased earnings throughout the year.

Benefits

  • Company health benefits after three months
  • Health, dental, vision, prescription, disability, and wellness coverage
  • Paid vacation
  • Additional paid holiday week during the Christmas/New Year period
  • Paid sick/personal days
  • Mileage reimbursement at $0.35/km between appointments

Required Qualifications

  • Professional photo editing and video editing experience (Experience using Final Cut Pro is strongly preferred)
  • Professional photography experience
  • Professional videography experience
  • Portfolio demonstrating photography and video work
  • Strong English communication skills
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Reliable personal vehicle
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to manage schedules, priorities, and client interactions professionally
  • Comfortable learning and following company systems and processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Real estate photography and videography experience
  • Drone experience
  • Transport Canada Basic RPAS Certificate
  • Experience using Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar editing software
  • Additional French language skills

What We're Looking For

Successful team members are:

  • Dependable and professional
  • Detail-oriented and quality-focused
  • Comfortable interacting with clients in a professional setting
  • Strong problem-solvers who can adapt to changing situations
  • Coachable and open to feedback
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently
  • Committed to delivering exceptional client experiences

This Role May Not Be a Fit If You...

  • Dislike driving - you'll spend a good amount of time on the road between appointments throughout the Ottawa region.
  • Prefer the same routine every day - no two days look exactly alike here.
  • Don't enjoy working directly with clients, homeowners, and real estate professionals - great customer service is a huge part of the role.
  • Prefer a highly structured 9-to-5 schedule - shoot volume and appointment schedules can vary throughout the year.
  • Struggle with changing priorities or the occasional curveball - flexibility and problem-solving are part of the job.
  • Prefer working alongside coworkers all day - most of this role is spent working independently in the field.
