Full job description

Company: Upper Canada Soap

Reports to: Director of Product Development

Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Salary range: $18/hr -3 days per week

ABOUT US:

We are a Toronto-based beauty company looking for a Content Creator who lives and breathes content, culture, and trends. At Upper Canada Soap, home to brands like MasqueBAR, Vintage Cosmetic, and Yes Studio, you’ll join a collaborative, creative team that’s passionate about pushing boundaries and bringing bold ideas to life.

This is not a “post-and-done” role. We’re looking for someone who can be the face of our brands, jump in front of the camera, and create scroll-stopping content that feels authentic, fun, and on-trend. You’ll balance creativity with strategy, analyzing metrics, spotting opportunities, and turning insights into content that drives sales, builds community, and strengthens brand love.

We want someone who’s ready to take risks, experiment, and test big ideas. Someone who can energize not just our social channels, but our office culture too.

YOUR ROLE IN THE COMPANY:

As Content Creator, you’ll have your finger on the pulse of cultural and social media trends. You’ll be the face and voice of our brands, developing and starring in on-camera content while also owning the content strategy across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and more.

You will be responsible for both the creative and strategic execution of content, researching, producing, and analyzing posts to keep our brands relevant, engaging, and growing. This role requires someone comfortable in front of the camera, who can balance creativity with strategy, and who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

AS WELL AS:

Be a highly skilled communicator across both visual and written mediums. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Content Creation & Strategy

· Develop and execute a social media strategy across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and other relevant platforms.

· Concept, film, and edit engaging video content where you will often appear on camera (e.g. product demos, tutorials, trend-based videos, behind-the-scenes).

· Maintain a content calendar, planning content and copy 30 days in advance.

Community Engagement

· Support, respond, and engage with customers and followers through social media channels.

· Curate and repurpose UGC (user-generated content) from customers and influencers.

· Build relationships with influencers and creators for collaborations, seeding, and campaigns.

· Build out influence campaigns to build our reach and capture UGC

Analytics & Optimization

· Track and report on performance metrics weekly, outlining what’s working and what isn’t.

· Continuously optimize content based on data-driven insights and social media algorithm changes.

Cross-Functional Support

· Collaborate with Marketing on influencer seeding, contests, and social media campaigns.

· Write product descriptions, social captions, blog posts, and email/SMS copy.

· Provide graphic design support for social, website, Amazon, and e-commerce assets.

· Support e-commerce initiatives including promotions, sales, and digital campaigns.

· Partner with PR firms and agencies for creative briefs, product launches, and events.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Mandatory:

· Minimum of 1-2 years relevant work experience in social media, content creation, or digital marketing.

· Graphic design and editing skills (Canva, Adobe Suite, CapCut, etc.).

· On-camera presence and confidence in creating short-form video content.

· Excellent copywriting skills across social, email, and web platforms.

· Strong photography/videography skills with the ability to create content using a phone.

· Deep understanding of social media platforms, trends, and emerging technologies.

· Strong eye for aesthetics and brand alignment.

· Proven ability to analyze metrics and adapt strategies accordingly.

· Excellent proofreading and presentation skills.

Nice to Have:

· Experience in beauty, fashion, or lifestyle brands.

· Influencer outreach or community-building experience.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

· A bold, big personality! You’re not afraid to get in front of the camera, take risks, and keep the energy high.

· A strong personal presence on social media with proven experience building an audience for yourself or a brand. If you already create content that people can’t scroll past, you’re who we’re looking for.

· The ability to balance creativity with strategy. You know when to jump on a trend, but also how to align it with brand goals and drive results.

· Hands-on skills in filming, editing, design, and copywriting to bring ideas to life quickly and at a high standard.

· A data-driven mindset. You don’t just post, you measure, learn, and refine to maximize reach and engagement.

· Confidence in collaborating with influencers, customers, and partners to amplify content and build community.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT OUR OFFICES:

· A collaborative, creative environment where bold ideas are encouraged (and celebrated).

· A team that thrives on trying new things, experimenting, and learning as we go.

· A fast-paced setting where no two days look the same. You’ll never be bored here.

· Support from Marketing, E-commerce, and Product teams who are just as passionate as you are about building brands people love.

WHY YOU’LL WANT TO JOIN OUR TEAM:

· Hybrid work schedule -in person to start.

· Supportive team environment

· A growing industry

As part of the interview process, shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a Content Creation Task.

We value the unique skills and experiences that each individual brings to our team and welcome all interested candidates to apply. We strongly encourage applications from members of equity-deserving communities, including Indigenous, Black, racialized individuals, women, people with disabilities, and those with diverse gender identities, expressions, and sexual orientations. Thank you for your interest in joining our team. Please note that only candidates selected for further consideration will be contacted.
