Rubble Rock and Gem is looking for a creative, adventurous videographer and editor to help document the behind-the-scenes world of crystals, fossils, gemstones, mining, buying trips, gem shows, and international sourcing.

This is not a typical content job.

I travel the world buying, mining, cutting, and acquiring crystals, fossils, gemstones, and mineral specimens for Rubble Rock and Gem, a retail store and gem business based in Vancouver, BC. I’m looking for someone who can come along and capture that world honestly: the travel, the deals, the mines, the markets, the gem shows, the warehouse visits, the production work, and the unusual access most people never get to see.

The goal is to create compelling lifestyle and documentary-style social media content without turning it into an ego project. The focus is the places, people, stones, and real behind-the-scenes moments.

What You’ll Film

Depending on the trip, content may include:

• Rappelling into mines in India
• Helicopter trips to mineral claims in Canada
• Gem and mineral buying trips in Thailand
• Warehouse and jewelry production visits in China
• Major gem shows in Germany, Arizona, and other international locations
• Behind-the-scenes deals with miners, cutters, wholesalers, and collectors
• Storefront content at Rubble Rock and Gem in Vancouver
• Local BC sourcing trips, including jade-related content and miner visits

Responsibilities

• Film and edit short-form videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and similar platforms
• Capture lifestyle, documentary, product, travel, and behind-the-scenes content
• Spot strong content opportunities while traveling, sourcing, mining, or working locally
• Help build repeatable content formats and series
• Organize footage and keep media backed up
• Create videos that feel real, interesting, and built for social media attention
• Work well in unpredictable environments, including markets, warehouses, mines, gem shows, remote locations, and retail spaces

Bonus points for drone experience, photography, YouTube editing, documentary-style storytelling, or experience filming travel, adventure, jewelry, retail, mining, or product content.

Compensation

For local filming work in BC, pay is as advertised.

For travel-based work, there is no hourly pay. Rubble Rock and Gem covers approved travel expenses, lodging, and food. Depending on the trip, additional spending money or a per-trip stipend may also be provided.

The travel, access, adventure, and portfolio-building opportunity are a major part of the compensation. This role is best suited for someone who values unique experiences, creative freedom, and the chance to build content around the global gem, mineral, fossil, and jewelry trade.

Location

Home base is Vancouver, BC. Local filming will happen around the store and nearby sourcing trips. Travel may include Canada, the United States, Europe, Asia, and other locations depending on business needs.
