The Winnipeg Blues are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Camera Operator & Video Producer to bring our live hockey broadcasts to life. In this role, you will operate camera equipment and manage the live production of all 30 Winnipeg Blues home games, ensuring every broadcast is delivered with technical precision and professional polish. You will run live-game camera coverage — including multiple angles and replays — and manage the broadcast through OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) and FloSports' Broadcast Manager platform. This is an exciting opportunity to build hands-on live sports broadcast experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Availability Requirement: Candidate must be available for all 30 Winnipeg Blues home games during the 2026/27 season. Games are typically played on evenings and weekends, running from September to March.
Duties
- Operate professional video camera(s) to record all 30 Winnipeg Blues home games, capturing consistent, broadcast-quality footage of live game action
- Manage in-game camera coverage, including switching between multiple angles and producing instant replays
- Set up, test, and strike the camera and audio equipment before and after each game, including sound checks and camera positioning
- Run the live broadcast using OBS, managing scenes, overlays, and stream output in real time
- Manage the live broadcast through FloSports' Broadcast Manager, including stream setup, in-game graphics/overlays, and troubleshooting stream issues as they arise
- Incorporate visual effects, motion graphics, and animations into the broadcast where applicable
- Maintain and troubleshoot camera and broadcast equipment, ensuring everything is in excellent working condition for each home game
- Communicate with team management and game-day staff to coordinate broadcast timing around puck drop, intermissions, and any in-arena promotions
Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in operating professional video cameras (DSLR, mirrorless, or broadcast-style cameras)
- Working knowledge of OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) and its live-streaming features
- Experience with, or ability to quickly learn, FloSports' Broadcast Manager platform
- Understanding of basic lighting techniques and sound recording/audio equipment for live event production
- Strong troubleshooting skills — comfortable resolving technical issues in real time during a live broadcast
- Ability to manage multiple moving parts simultaneously in a live, time-sensitive environment
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with coaching staff, team management, and other game-day personnel
- A keen eye for detail and a passion for live sports production and visual storytelling
- Reliable and available for the full home game schedule, evenings and weekends included
