Evening Photography & Videography Instructor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate **Evening Photography & Videography Instructor** to join our team. The ideal candidate has professional experience in photography and video production and is excited to mentor beginners as they develop their creative, technical, and professional skills.

As an instructor, you will lead classes of aspiring creatives, teaching foundational to intermediate techniques, guiding hands-on practice, and preparing students for real-world opportunities in photography and videography.

The instructor will be expected to **follow the curriculum, lesson structure, and training guidelines provided by management** to ensure consistency and quality across the program.

This is a **contract-based position with the potential to become a long-term opportunity based on the performance of the selected candidate and the needs of the school.**

Duties

Teach core skills in photography and videography, including:

* Guide students through hands-on exercises and practical training from day 1 (Basicaly we want the students to use their cameras almost every single day)

* Camera operation for photography and videography

* Lighting, including natural light, continuous/video lighting, flash, and strobes

* Sound and audio basics (for video)

* Editing using Adobe Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop.

* Business and branding fundamentals for creatives (info provided by the management)

* Follow the **curriculum and lesson plans provided by management**

* Deliver lessons in an engaging, clear, practical, and beginner-friendly way

* Provide constructive feedback and mentorship on student projects and assignments

* Prepare students for real-world scenarios such as event coverage, photoshoots, client work, and short film productions

* Maintain a professional, organized, and positive classroom environment

* Support Alberta Film School’s mission of providing **hands-on, real-world training**

Qualifications

* Proven professional experience in **photography and videography**

* **Portfolio required**, including both photography, video samples

* Strong technical knowledge of cameras, lighting setups, and editing software

* Previous **teaching, training, or mentorship experience** is preferred

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* Reliable, professional, organized, and comfortable working with beginner students

* Ability to follow an established curriculum while bringing professional experience and practical knowledge into the classroom

* Ability to work weekday evenings, **Monday to Friday, 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM**

* Passion for helping beginners develop into confident creatives
