Experienced Wedding Cinematographer / Videographer

Job Summary

I Capture Studio is looking for creative, talented, and experienced cinematographers to join our wedding filmmaking team. We specialize in Sri Lankan Hindu weddings, church ceremonies, and receptions, capturing the story and atmosphere of each celebration through polished, emotionally engaging films.

We’re seeking someone with a strong creative eye who can anticipate important moments, move quickly, and adapt confidently in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate understands lighting, works well in a team, welcomes constructive feedback, and is eager to learn.

Responsibilities

• Plan coverage, review event timelines, and prepare cameras, audio equipment, lighting, and backup gear.
• Communicate with couples and event teams to understand schedules, priorities, and creative preferences.
• Capture wedding preparations, ceremonies, receptions, speeches, and candid moments professionally and discreetly.
• Operate Sony FX3 cameras and gimbals confidently, producing well-composed footage and smooth, purposeful camera movements.
• Assess lighting and adapt camera settings and lighting setups quickly as conditions change.
• Record clear audio for ceremonies, speeches, and other important moments.
• Coordinate respectfully with fellow cinematographers, photographers, planners, venue staff, and other vendors.
• Follow creative direction while contributing fresh ideas and anticipating moments without constant instruction.
• Organize, back up, and protect client footage according to our file management procedures.
• Assist with editing cohesive wedding films, including colour correction, basic colour grading, audio cleanup, transitions, and titles.
• Complete assigned work according to agreed timelines and quality standards.
• Maintain equipment and handle changes to schedules or filming conditions calmly.

Experience and Requirements

• Previous professional experience filming weddings or events.
• Hands-on experience shooting with the Sony FX3 and operating gimbals.
• A strong understanding of lighting, exposure, white balance, focus, and composition.
• Knowledge of audio recording, footage management, and video production workflows.
• Basic colour grading knowledge and working familiarity with DaVinci Resolve.
• The ability to think quickly, move efficiently between setups, and stay alert throughout a busy wedding day.
• A creative approach to storytelling and strong attention to detail.
• The ability to learn quickly, adapt to our workflow, and apply constructive feedback.
• Strong communication, organization, punctuality, and professionalism.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to wedding venues and filming locations.
• Availability for wedding dates, including weekends.

Bonus Assets

• Your own Sony FX3, lighting equipment, and other filmmaking gear.
• Experience filming Sri Lankan Hindu weddings, church ceremonies, and receptions, with an understanding of key traditions and moments.
• Formal education or training in filmmaking, cinematography, video production, or a related field.
• Editing experience with Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.
• Familiarity with Adobe After Effects and other Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, or InDesign.
