Recognizing the importance of work-life balance, we offer flexible work arrangements and support programs. We also invest in our employees' growth through training and mentorship opportunities, enabling you to expand your skills and embrace new challenges.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Globe and Mail is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Photo Editor, with a love of photography and visual storytelling, who will assign, research, edit and package photography for digital and print platforms.
The successful candidate will have strong news judgment, and a proven ability to work with photographers to help shape story ideas from start to finish. They will be unflappable under daily deadline pressures, and be comfortable working independently as well as in a team setting.
Strong technical editing skills are essential, as is a passion for the future of visual journalism in a digital world.
The Globe and Mail’s visuals team is a multidisciplinary group of designers, developers, photo editors, data journalists and graphic artists. We work collaboratively across all aspects of The Globe’s coverage on everything from long-term investigative projects to breaking news and immersive story formats.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative journalist and a positive advocate within the wider newsroom for the power and value of visuals as core to The Globe’s journalism. They will also have a passion for continually improving processes and workflows in an ever-changing media environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
APPLICATION: Please include a cover letter with your resume (that is written by you, not AI). Our promise to readers is that the best work comes from our own (human) curiosity and creativity - we’d like to see yours.
SALARY: This position is classified under Group C of the Editorial Collective Agreement.
WHY CHOOSE THE GLOBE:
The Globe’s mission is to deliver essential content – news, information, analysis and insights – for aspiring individuals and strong communities. The Globe is committed to providing a respectful and inclusive workplace that upholds our values of integrity, collaboration, innovation and accountability.
As Canada’s most respected media brand, The Globe is dedicated to making a difference to Canada and you can make a difference by working with us.
WE OFFER:
THE GLOBE AND MAIL IS DEDICATED TO DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION IN THE WORKPLACE
The Globe and Mail is committed to fostering an inclusive, accessible work environment, where all employees feel valued, respected and supported. We believe this strengthens our business and our journalism. We welcome and encourage applications from individuals from all groups, regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, gender, sexual orientation, religion, socio-economic status, age, and physical ability. As required by the Federal Contractors Program, The Globe also tracks the proportion of staff in the four Employment Equity categories (Women, Aboriginal Peoples, Persons with Disabilities, and Members of Visible Minorities) to ensure we are reflecting the areas in which we work.
The Globe and Mail offers accommodation for applicants with disabilities as part of its recruitment process. If you are contacted to arrange for an interview, please advise us if you require an accommodation.
