Pharmacy Technician

Cross Site: Temporary Full-time (Primary Site: Kirkland Lake)

Compensation & Benefits Information

  • Rate of pay ranges from: $32.32 per hour and $37.26 per hour as per OPSEU Collective Agreement
  • Eligibility to enroll in the HEALTHCARE OF ONTARIO PENSION PLAN (HOOPP). For more information, please visit - https://hoopp.com/
  • Percent in lieu of benefits and vacation percent up to 20% - paid bi-weekly as per the OPSEU Collective Agreement

Job Summary:

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, Pharmacy Technicians are responsible and accountable for the technical aspects of accurate, safe, effective and efficient drug distribution. Pharmacy technicians participate in meeting the patient’s health and medication related needs through collaboration with the patient, the pharmacists and other health care professionals to achieve the patient’s health goals.

Pharmacy technicians are an integral part of the pharmacy team in the medication distribution component of pharmacy services, allowing the pharmacists to be involved with direct patient care.

Qualifications

Certifications and Registrations

  • Registration and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPHT)
  • Graduate of a CCAPP (Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs) accredited pharmacy technician program or equivalent

Skill, Ability & Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to be motivated, self-directed and work as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous hospital experience with unit dose dispensing and sterile medication preparation experience an asset
  • Ability to learn and trouble shoot technology and machinery
  • Strong computer skills, previous experience with Meditech an asset
