About Medicine Place Inc.

Hours of Work

Part-time | Saturday and Sunday shifts; hours may vary based on location needs. Flexible scheduling available across our Calgary pharmacy locations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescription medications accurately and in compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
  • Provide Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) dispensing services, including methadone and buprenorphine/naloxone, in accordance with ACP standards and applicable legislation.
  • Counsel patients on medications, potential interactions, and adherence strategies
  • Perform medication reviews and provide clinical services, including vaccinations and health screenings.
  • Open and/or close the pharmacy in accordance with established procedures
  • Ensure all pharmacy policies and procedures are followed accurately and consistently
  • Oversee and support pharmacy assistants and technicians during weekend operations
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation within the pharmacy management system (Kroll)
  • Manage inventory, including controlled substances and OAT medications, with strict adherence to regulatory requirements
  • Embrace and support new initiatives and innovative programs introduced by pharmacy management
  • Liaise with prescribers, health professionals, and patients to deliver seamless, coordinated care

Experience & Requirements

  • Minimum 1–2 years of community pharmacy experience preferred
  • Experience with Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) dispensing is strongly preferred; candidates must have completed or be willing to complete mandatory OAT training as required by ACP
  • Proficiency with Kroll pharmacy management software preferred
  • Strong knowledge of provincial and federal pharmacy regulations
  • Excellent patient counselling and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead weekend pharmacy operations
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and clinical excellence
  • Openness to learning and adapting to new pharmacy programs and technologies

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.Sc.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited institution required

Licence / Certification

  • Current registration and licensure in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacists (ACP) — required
  • Injection/immunization certification — required
  • Completed OAT prescriber/dispenser training (or willingness to complete upon hire) — required
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
