Full job description

Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Services, the Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for supporting drug benefit strategy initiatives, including drug evaluations, formulary management, Product Listing Agreements (PLAs), client consultation, and clinical project management. The Clinical Pharmacist serves as a clinical resource to internal stakeholders and clients while contributing to process improvements, product development, and strategic initiatives. This role requires strong analytical, project management, and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively across multiple stakeholder groups.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned formularies, including formulary updates, drug evaluations, and coverage criteria development.
  • Conduct clinical and budget impact evaluations to support drug benefit and formulary decision-making.
  • Review and maintain formulary and clinical processes and associated documentation while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor industry trends and recommend formulary enhancements, drug management strategies, and innovative benefit solutions.
  • Provide clinical consultation and analysis related to drug coverage, benefit design changes, utilization management, and plan amendments.
  • Lead or support Product Listing Agreement (PLA) opportunities, including assessment, negotiation, implementation, and ongoing management.
  • Serve as the clinical lead for assigned clients by providing recommendations, presentations, education, and ongoing support.
  • Contribute to the development of new products, process improvements, automation initiatives, and operational efficiencies.
  • Lead and participate in clinical, operational, and strategic projects.
  • Support the training and mentorship of pharmacy students and team members.
  • Participate in policy reviews, regulatory initiatives, and other business priorities as required.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BScPhm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Minimum 3 years of pharmacy experience in community, hospital, managed care, pharmacy benefits, or a related healthcare environment.
  • Strong clinical knowledge, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with formulary management, drug evaluations, reimbursement programs, or health benefits is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated project management, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
