Position Description:

We are currently seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team and to take up roles in our Organic Synthesis Laboratory.

As an Organic Synthetic Chemist, you will provide your knowledge of organic, organometallic, and polymer chemistry in order to contribute to the synthesis of new compounds destined for a variety of drug discovery and new material design projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interface with internal technical teams and management and provide regular updates and presentations.
  • Independently plan and help to execute the synthesis of literature and non-literature compounds within a specified time-frame
  • Help interpret NMR, GCMS, HPLC, and LC-MS, in support of ongoing projects.
  • Develop work-up and purification techniques for target molecules using automated column chromatography, recrystallizations, etc.
  • Contribute to the write-up of final technical reports, presentations, and other required documents for the clients
  • Accurate reporting to Senior Group Leaders
  • Investigate new ideas for novel drug discovery and drug design projects.
  • Learn about, and adhere to, ISO guidelines.

Position Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Organic Chemistry from a recognized University and a minimum of five years of industry experience.
  • Experience and understanding of standard safety procedures for the laboratory.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, time management, and presentation skills.
  • Able to interact efficiently and respectfully with group members.
  • Proven ability to work independently & multi-task with strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple chemistry projects at one time.
  • Positive mental attitude is a must!
