1on1 - Resident Care and Safety Aide

Location: Napanee
Pay Rate: $20
Job Type: Full-Time

IMPORTANT - Compliance Requirements

Due to Ontario Long-Term Care regulations, candidates must have the following documents before starting shifts.
Candidates who already have complete compliance documentation will be prioritized for upcoming shifts.

Required Compliance

  • Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) - issued within the last 6 months
  • 2-Step TB Test - issued within the last 6 months
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Proof
  • Influenza Vaccination Proof (current season)
  • PSW certification
  • PSW transcript
  • HSCPOA - if available
  • CPR and 1st Aid
  • N95 Mask Fit Test
  • WHMIS Certificate
  • Worker Health & Safety Awareness (WHSA) Certificate
  • Government-issued ID
  • 3 Professional References

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one supervision, engagement, and companionship to residents through activities such as conversation, walking, reading, games, television, or arts and crafts
  • Support residents' emotional well-being and personhood by offering comfort, reassurance, and meaningful interaction
  • Observe residents closely and report any changes in behaviour, mood, or physical condition to nursing staff or PSWs
  • Assist residents with approved activities, mobility, and gentle exercises as directed by the care team
  • Use Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) techniques to support residents experiencing responsive behaviours
  • Maintain continuous supervision of the assigned resident to ensure safety and prevent incidents
  • Complete required observation documentation and update DOS binders at scheduled intervals
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and safe environment, including high-touch cleaning during outbreaks and supporting PPE organization
