Full job description
Carefor is Eastern Ontario’s largest home care and community support services not-for-profit, with over 1,200 employees operating in Eastern Counties, Ottawa, and Pembroke-Renfrew County. Overview:The Personal/Home Support Worker provides personal support services in the hospice with the framework of Carefor policies, procedures, standards and quality & risk management. Collaborates with all members of the health care team to meet the needs of clients to attain an optimal level of comfort and well being.
Responsibilities:- Assist in the activities of daily living including eating, dressing, transferring, grooming, and bathing
- Provide laundering of clothes and linens
- Provide light cleaning
- Provide respite care
- Provide light meal preparation
- Provide cognitive, social, and compassionate support
- Document reports for clients on their plan of care and any changes in the behaviour of daily routines
- Other related duties and tasks as assigned by the Supervisor in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and Carefor policies and procedures.
- Ontario Certified Personal Support Worker Certificate and/or National Association of Career Colleges (NAC) Certificate, or, Foreign Trained BScN, BScN Nursing Student, or second year RPN student.
- Clear vulnerable Sector check (obtained within previous six months)
- Negative tuberculosis test
- Household management experience
- Experience working with elderly/vulnerable sector
- Good communication in English, both written and verbal
- Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to adjust to working with people of different backgrounds and abilities.
- Previous housekeeping experience is an asset
- Experience with Palliative Care is considered an asset
- First Aid CPR is considered an asset
- Competitive wages (in addition to the Provincial government $3/hr. wage enhancement)
