About the Role

Reporting to a Team Manager, the Senior, Accident Benefits Claims Advisor plays a key role in supporting clients through some of their most challenging moments.

In this role, you will:

  • Assess, investigate, and manage complex Accident Benefits claims

  • Support clients through recovery by ensuring access to the right benefits and treatment

  • Work closely with medical stakeholders, legal partners, and internal teams

  • Apply judgement and technical expertise across medical, legal, and insurance frameworks to drive fair and timely claim outcomes

This role is ideal for:

✅ Experienced Accident Benefits Claims Advisors / Adjusters
Healthcare professionals (e.g., Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Kinesiologists, Rehabilitation Specialists) looking to transition into a corporate insurance career
Legal professionals (e.g., paralegals, legal assistants, litigation support) with exposure to personal injury or insurance environments

What You’ll Do

  • Manage a portfolio of complex AB claims (Non-MIG / Non-CAT)

  • Conduct detailed claim investigations and determine entitlement under SABS

  • Interpret medical documentation and collaborate with healthcare providers

  • Apply a total cost management approach , including reserving and file strategy

  • Handle exposures such as:

    • Priority of payment

    • Loss transfer

    • WSIB

  • Interpret and apply legislation, policy wording, and legal frameworks in claim decisions

  • Support clients through recovery and return-to-function outcomes

  • Negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve claims

What We’re Looking For

Insurance Background

  • 3+ years of Accident Benefits claims experience

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • SABS

    • Non-MIG / Non-CAT files

    • Loss transfer / reserving

  • Experience handling files with moderate to high complexity

Healthcare Background (Career Transition)

  • Background in:

    • Nursing (RN)

    • Occupational Therapy

    • Physiotherapy

    • Kinesiology

    • Rehabilitation / clinical roles

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Injury recovery

    • Functional assessments

    • Medical documentation

Prior insurance experience is not required — training will be provided.

Legal Background

  • Background in:

    • Paralegal or legal assistant roles

    • Litigation support (personal injury, insurance defense, or accident benefits)

  • Experience or exposure to:

    • Accident Benefits, personal injury, or insurance-related claims

    • Reviewing legal documentation, case files, or medical-legal reports

  • Strong ability to interpret:

    • Legislation (SABS), policy language, and legal correspondence

Prior claims experience is an asset but not required — training will be provided.

  • Excellent communication and client management abilities

  • Confidence in handling complex and sensitive situations
