Restaurant Manager

Job Type

  • Full-time

  • $55,000–$65,000 per year (Compensation will be based on experience, demonstrated ability, and overall fit.)

Expected Start Date: ASAP

About Us

Bourbon St. Grill is an independently owned, high-volume quick-service restaurant located in Erin Mills Town Centre. We pride ourselves on serving fresh, high-quality food while delivering fast, friendly service.

We're looking for someone who treats this restaurant as if it were their own business—someone who takes pride in developing their team, maintaining high operational standards, and delivering an exceptional customer experience every day.

This is a hands-on leadership position, not an office management role. The Restaurant Manager is expected to lead from the front by working alongside the team, coaching employees, preparing food, serving customers, and ensuring the restaurant operates efficiently every day.

Responsibilities

As the Restaurant Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the restaurant, including:

  • Training, onboarding, mentoring, and developing new employees to meet Bourbon St. Grill's operational standards
  • Leading a team of approximately 3–4 employees per shift
  • Maintaining efficient daily operations during busy service periods
  • Maintaining consistent food quality, portion control, and presentation
  • Monitoring inventory levels and communicating inventory requirements to ownership
  • Maintaining accurate inventory counts and ensuring products are properly organized and stored
  • Helping minimize food waste through proper portion control and food handling practices
  • Receiving deliveries and maintaining organized storage areas
  • Ensuring food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards are consistently met
  • Opening and closing the restaurant
  • Handling customer concerns professionally and confidently
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming restaurant
  • Identifying operational improvements and communicating recommendations to ownership
  • Working in both the kitchen and front-of-house whenever business needs require
  • Leading by example and providing direct support to the team during busy periods

Kitchen Expectations

This position requires a manager who is fully capable of operating every station within the restaurant.

You must be able to independently:

  • Prepare all menu items to company standards
  • Complete all food preparation tasks efficiently and consistently
  • Operate the grill, wok, fryer, and prep stations
  • Train employees on proper cooking and food preparation techniques
  • Maintain food quality and speed during peak service periods

The Restaurant Manager is expected to actively work in both the kitchen and front-of-house as required. This position is not a hands-off management role. Managers are expected to step into any station, assist wherever needed, and lead by example to ensure excellent customer service and smooth restaurant operations.

Performance Expectation

Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate proficiency in all required food preparation and cooking procedures within their first two weeks of employment. This includes safely, efficiently, and consistently preparing menu items to Bourbon St. Grill's operational standards while maintaining food quality and speed of service.

Hands-on training and coaching will be provided during this introductory period. However, candidates who are unable to demonstrate the required level of proficiency within the first two weeks may not continue in the role.

QualificationsRequired

  • 2–4 years of restaurant management experience
  • Strong cooking and food preparation experience
  • Experience working in a fast-paced restaurant environment
  • Ability to train, coach, and develop employees
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to multitask under pressure
  • Reliable, punctual, and highly accountable
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada

Preferred

  • Quick-service or fast-casual restaurant management experience
  • Experience managing inventory
  • Experience training and developing restaurant employees

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Ability to efficiently perform repetitive food preparation tasks while maintaining quality and consistency

Schedule

  • 40–45 hours per week
  • Weekend availability is required
  • Must be available to work both opening and closing shifts
  • Flexibility to work evenings and holidays as business needs require

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual salary of $55,000–$65,000, based on experience, demonstrated ability, and overall fit
  • One complimentary meal per shift
  • Paid training (training period compensated at a reduced rate)
  • Opportunity to grow within an independently owned business where your performance has a direct impact on the restaurant's success

Hiring Process

Qualified applicants will participate in an interview process and may be asked to complete practical assessments related to restaurant operations, including cooking and food preparation.

Successful candidates will receive hands-on training and will be expected to demonstrate competency in both management and kitchen operations during their introductory training period.

How to Apply

Please submit your resume outlining your restaurant management and kitchen experience. We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
