Job Overview
We are a private Ophthalmology Practice seeking a detail-oriented and friendly Medical Administrative Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our front desk, providing exceptional service to patients and supporting our medical staff. This position requires strong organizational skills, proficiency in medical terminology, and experience with electronic medical records. This is a part-time position covering a maternity leave.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and assist them with the check-in process.
  • Manage phone systems to handle incoming calls, schedule appointments, and address patient inquiries.
  • Surgical, as well as test bookings
  • Financial transactions, cash, debit/credit
  • Cross training for other receptionists
  • Maintain accurate patient records using electronic medical records systems.
  • Verify patient information and insurance details prior to appointments.
  • Assist in managing the flow of patients within the office, ensuring timely service.
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers to facilitate effective communication regarding patient care.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining office supplies.
  • Uphold confidentiality while managing sensitive information.

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records systems, specifically Med-Access, is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and administrative procedures related to healthcare settings.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on patient care.
  • Proficient in using office equipment and phone systems effectively.
