Location: Hamilton, ON

Company Overview

Sucro Can Canada Inc. operates within the sugar refining industry, dedicated to producing high-quality sugar products. Our commitment to excellence and innovation drives our operations, ensuring we meet the needs of our customers while maintaining the highest standards in production

Job Purpose:

The Operations Supervisor is the senior-most person on shift and the primary point of accountability for all refinery operations during their rotation. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for producing consistently high-quality granular and liquid sugar, managing the full shift team, making real-time operational decisions, and ensuring the facility meets safety, quality, and throughput targets. They serve as the main liaison between operations and logistics to protect customer commitments.

We are looking for one (1) experienced and skilled Operations Supervisor for our facility in Hamilton, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities and Accountability:

Production & Quality

  • Oversee production of granular and liquid sugar to meet quality standards every shift.
  • Monitor process parameters and make decisions to maintain or correct product quality.
  • Ensure adequate finished product inventory is available to fulfill scheduled customer loads.
  • Proactively communicate with the logistics team to adjust load sequencing when inventory or production conditions require it, minimizing customer impact.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete all required shift paperwork accurately and on time, including production logs, quality records, shift handover reports, and any regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure all team members complete their respective checklists and records before end of shift.
  • Report any non-conformances, incidents, or near-misses to the Plant Manager immediately.
  • Complete the Shift Report before end of shift — the report must cover: production summary (volumes of granular and liquid sugar produced), quality status, equipment issues encountered and actions taken, staffing notes, housekeeping status, load/shipment summary, and any unresolved issues to hand over to the incoming Supervisor. The Shift Report must be reviewed and signed off before leaving the site.

Team & Shift Management

  • Lead, direct, and support all shift personnel — including the Centrifuge Operator, Refinery Operator, Front End Loader Operator, Shipper, QA, and both Maintenance roles.
  • Coordinate break coverage to ensure continuous operation of all critical equipment.
  • Address performance issues, conflicts, or safety concerns in real time and escalate as needed.
  • Conduct a thorough shift handover briefing with the incoming Supervisor, covering production status, equipment conditions, outstanding issues, and pending loads.

Housekeeping & Equipment Care

  • Enforce a clean-as-you-go culture — ensure the entire refinery floor, centrifuge area, raw sugar warehouse, and shipping areas are maintained to housekeeping standards throughout the shift.
  • Verify that operators are not only running their equipment but actively caring for it: performing visual checks, reporting abnormalities, and keeping machines clean.
  • Escalate any equipment reliability concerns to Maintenance and follow up to ensure resolution before or during the shift.

Safety

  • Enforce all safety policies, PPE requirements, and permit-to-work procedures at all times.
  • Stop any unsafe activity immediately and take corrective action.
  • Ensure all team members have completed required safety checks before operating equipment.
