About Us

RAAMP Endoscopy is a new outpatient Gastrointestinal and Endoscopy clinic in Windsor, Ontario, operating under the Independent Health Facilities Act (ICHSC legislation). We are dedicated to delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centered care to our community. Our team-based approach ensures high-quality outcomes while prioritizing patient comfort, safety, and dignity.

Position Summary

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) provides high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing endoscopic procedures within the RPN scope of practice. Working collaboratively with the healthcare team, the RPN is responsible for patient preparation, monitoring stable patients during and after procedures, and providing essential patient education. The RPN ensures adherence to CNO professional standards, organizational policies, and ICHSC regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Perform pre-procedure nursing assessments, including patient history, allergies, and vital signs.
  • Procedure Support: Assist physicians and the RN during endoscopic procedures, ensuring safe patient positioning and comfort.
  • Monitoring: Monitor and document patient status before, during, and after procedures, promptly reporting any changes in status to the RN or physician.
  • Medication Administration: Administer medications within the RPN scope of practice under the guidance of physicians and in accordance with CNO standards and clinic policy.
  • Education: Provide education and support to patients and families regarding procedures, preparation, and discharge aftercare.
  • Infection Control: Ensure proper infection prevention and control practices are followed at all times, including equipment handling.
  • Emergency Response: Respond effectively to medical emergencies, including the initiation of CPR and use of emergency equipment.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with physicians, RNs, and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient flow and clinic operations.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance initiatives and accreditation requirements.

Qualifications

  • Registration: Current Certificate of Registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Certifications: BCLS required; ACLS certification is considered an asset.
  • Experience: Previous experience in endoscopy, perioperative care, or acute care nursing is strongly preferred.
  • Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to recognize changes in patient stability.
  • Interpersonal: Excellent communication and teamwork abilities with a commitment to patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with ICHSC legislation and endoscopy-specific monitoring is an asset.
