Calling all theatre lovers! Have a passion for the Arts and want to work with colleagues and patrons who share your excitement? Then apply to be our Supervisor - Front of House and Cashier Attendant!
You’ll be responsible for making sure that shows and performances run smoothly from a front of house and box office perspective. What does this involve? Supervising volunteer ushers, and communicating with concession, box office, theatre techs, stage management and patrons to make sure the show does, in fact, go on! Should any patron complaints or issues arise, you’ll use your superior people skills to handle situations with patience and professionalism. You’ll also ensure theatre policy and procedures for emergencies and audience control to make sure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable time. At other times, you’ll bring your customer service skills to the Cashier Attendant role to process transactions, perform clerical tasks and assist with public enquiries. Best of all, your “office” will be the gorgeous and state-of-the-art Shadbolt Centre for the Arts! Performs related work as required.
Qualifications for both positions include up to high school graduation; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The Supervisor – Front of House requires courses in hospitality, food service or related subjects and sound related experience preferably in a theatre, including some supervisory experience; First Aid training is desirable. The Cashier Attendant requires standard commercial courses, plus some cashiering experience. You should understand the principals involved with running the activities and operations of a theatre, as well as some familiarity with box office ticketing software (e.g. Spektrix) or reservation systems. You should also have fantastic customer service skills and can easily communicate with colleagues and patrons alike. A valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required. Pay Rate: Supervisor – Front of House: $31.58 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits
Cashier Attendant: $27.01 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits
Location: Shadbolt Centre for the Arts
Hours of work: This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work, which may include on-call shifts. Typical shifts are Tuesday to Friday from 12:00pm – 5:00pm, and Saturday from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.
