*NOTE* This vacancy will fill up to two (2) positions

Students will be responsible for litter collection on campus. The successful candidates must be enrolled as a student at the University and maintain a minimum 18 credit course load. The position is a term appointment with the opportunity for renewal starting September with the same course load requirement.

Organizational Status

Students will report to a Municipal Supervisor or their designate in the Department of Building Operations. Students will check in with the Head at the beginning of each shift to receive their daily assignment

Typical Job Duties

Collect and safely dispose of litter on the Vancouver Point Grey Campus in accordance with Building Operations Waste Management practices

Separate recyclables from litter as necessary

Emptying waste collected into the appropriate bins

Conducts routine checking of grounds to ensure cleanliness in accordance with University standards

Maintain daily records of litter collection via maps provided

May be required to perform other duties related to the requirements of the position.

Qualifications

Students must be enrolled in a degree program at the University of British Columbia and maintain a minimum 18 credit course load.

The position is a term appointment with the opportunity for renewal starting September with the same course load requirement.

Students must be available to work between 7 and 14 hours per week. Shifts will be 3 to 4 hours in length and will be scheduled during the following hours:

  • 6am – 2pm Mon - Fri

Students must be able to physically carry out the requirements of the position including walking for an extended period of time and lifting litter bags between 10kg (11-22lbs) – 20kg (22-44lbs).
