Job Summary

We are seeking a friendly organized Receptionist/Optometric Assistant to join our optometric practice. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, provides excellent patient service and is comfortable handling both front desk responsibilities and assisting with day-to-day clinical flow of the office, including pretesting patients. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, and eager to support both clinical and administrative functions within our optometry practice.

Duties

  • Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage the check-in and check-out process to ensure a positive first impression.
  • Schedule appointments accurately using electronic medical records systems.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Handle phone inquiries, provide information about services, and coordinate follow-up appointments as needed.
  • Provide exceptional patient care by addressing questions, offering support, and ensuring comfort throughout visits.
  • Perform preliminary Pretests for Patients including tonometry, retinal imaging, visual field, and other diagnostic tests where applicable.
  • Assist optometrist and other team members as required.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized reception, and pretest area
  • Manage retail optical sales by assisting the optician with administrative duties, and processing patient transactions.
  • Support inventory management of optical supplies and medical equipment to ensure availability for daily operations

  • Excellent Customer Service and interpersonal skills
  • Proven experience working with electronic medical records in an Optometric clinic
  • Ability to remain calm and courteous in a busy office
  • Excellent front desk skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a busy environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage appointment schedules for doctors and opticians
  • Experience and knowledge of various pretesting procedures
  • Knowledge of dry eye procedures is highly desirable
  • Previous optometry experience is required.

Pay: $23.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15.0 – 20.0 per week
