Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) Associate (Ontario)

Position Summary:

The Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) Associate is responsible for maintaining optimal inventory levels at customer locations by managing stock replenishment, ensuring product availability, and maintaining accurate inventory data. This role serves as a liaison between the vendor and customer, playing a key part in supply chain efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor inventory levels at customer sites using VMI software and tools.
  • Forecast demand and create replenishment orders based on usage patterns, lead times, and safety stock requirements.
  • Coordinate and schedule deliveries with vendors and logistics teams.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies with system data.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date product and inventory records.
  • Communicate with sales, purchasing, and customer service teams to align inventory strategy with customer needs.
  • Identify and resolve inventory issues such as overstock, stockouts, or product obsolescence.
  • Generate and distribute inventory reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with company and customer policies, safety standards, and quality procedures.
  • Exhibits professionalism and customer service skills
  • Support process improvements and contribute to continuous inventory optimization initiatives.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and inventory management software
  • Valid G License (Ontario)
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Preferred:

  • WHMIS, TDG and Safe Lifting knowledge
  • 1–3 years of experience in inventory management, supply chain, or logistics.
  • Experience with Vendor Managed Inventory systems or programs.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and demand forecasting tools.
  • Familiarity with warehouse and distribution operations.

Working Conditions:

  • Will involve travel to customer sites or distribution centers.
  • Requires frequent lifting of items up to 55 lbs.
  • Work environment may include office and warehouse settings.
  • Frequently standing, sitting, walking, crouching, climbing, carrying, pushing and pulling

Equipment:

  • CSA green triangle (Grade 1 toe and sole protection) safety footwear is required
