ABOUT THE ROLEUnder the direction of the Foster Care Supervisor, the Recruitment Specialist & Training Coordinator will be responsible for organizing and coordinating all general recruitment strategies, marketing and social media. You will be responsible for onboarding new foster families to the program as well as organizing and delivering training opportunities for foster parents. This role is well‑suited for someone who is detail‑oriented, approachable, and enjoys contributing to a values‑driven, not‑for‑profit organization. This position requires flexibility as well as evening and some weekend work and the ability to participate in the organization's on-call rotation.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOINGRecruitment
  • Drive outreach, marketing, and information sessions to attract new foster parents.
  • Develop recruitment and marketing plan and materials to connect with potential foster parents and promote the agency foster care program.
  • Respond to every referral and inquiry, pursuing all leads related to the foster care program.
  • Host regular foster parent information sessions.
  • Conduct evaluation and assessment of prospective foster families, including application reviews, home visits, reference checks, background clearances, etc.
Onboarding
  • Onboard all new foster homes for the first 3 months of license, including case management duties.
  • Guide caregivers through criminal record checks, child intervention checks, and home safety assessments.
  • Track progress for monthly reporting.
  • Establish and grow trusting and supportive relationships with current and prospective foster parents.
Training Coordination
  • Facilitate or schedule pre-service training (e.g., trauma-informed care, child development, etc.).
  • Coordinate support meetings as well as additional and required trainings for foster homes.
Retention
  • Collaborate on planning recognition events and offering ongoing coaching or advocacy to recognize caregivers for the work they due and to reduce burnout.
Additional Requirements
  • Complete and maintain all Agency Core training.
  • Establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with colleagues and eternal stakeholders.
  • Ensure accuracy, confidentiality and safekeeping of agency records.
  • Understand and act in accordance with the legislation, policies, standards and procedures of the program and Agency.
  • Reflect and demonstrate the Agency vision in your work.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOREducation & Experience
  • Diploma or Degree in Human Services, or a related field - or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least two years of experience in foster care or in a family-based setting.
  • Experience in a not‑for‑profit environment is an asset.
Skills & Strengths
  • Strong understanding of the complex needs of the Foster Care System, Trauma Based practice, and Children and Family Services.
  • Demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for the program.
  • Competency in the areas of assessment and case management.
  • Excellent time management skills, group presentation, and networking skills.
  • Strong writing, organizational, program planning and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.

Technical Skills
  • Proficient in using software and creative tools including Canva, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, Sheets, and presentation/design applications.
