Parlee McLaws LLP is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to join our downtown Calgary office, offering the opportunity to work alongside a collaborative team on a broad range of litigation matters.

About the Role

Step into a role where a highly organized and motivated legal professional can contribute meaningfully to litigation matters from pre-filing through trial. The successful candidate will take initiative, demonstrate a sharp eye for detail, and bring strong organizational discipline to support multiple lawyers with active litigation practices.

What You’ll Do

  • Organize and manage physical and digital file systems to ensure efficient handling of client communications, records, and documentation
  • Perform due diligence searches as required
  • Draft, compile, and coordinate correspondence, legal documents, pleadings, and court filings
  • Prepare client accounts and follow up on receivables
  • Proactively manage deadlines, ensuring statutes of limitation and case timelines are met
  • Utilize software systems including Microsoft Office, Worldox, Elite 3E, Remindex, SpeechExec, FoxIt, or similar programs
  • Collaborate with team members to support ongoing litigation work and ad hoc tasks

What We’re Looking For

  • We welcome candidates with 5+ years in litigation or equivalent experience
  • Post-secondary educationfrom a recognized Legal Assistant program (equivalent experience may be considered)
  • Experience with document management systems
  • Keen attention to detail in producing accurate, high-quality work
  • Strong client service and relationship building skills
  • Effectively adapt and work with changing priorities in a high-volume work environment
  • Works efficiently as a part of a team or independently
  • Problem-solving skills with a pro-active mindset
