General Tradesperson 1 - Burrard

Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Burrard SC Station

Employment type: Permanent Region: Lower Mainland

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Field

Hourly Rate: $ 46.14

What you'll do

The duties of the role per the IBEW Collective Agreement are as follows:
  • An employee qualified to perform the duties of a Journeyperson in trades other than the electrical trades defined herein.
  • General Tradespersons shall perform work such as carpentry, painting, brickwork, track bonding, rigging, automotive,
lagging, exploratory diamond drilling, etc. and all types of work where skilled Tradespersons are required other than those
types of work which are normally performed by Journeyperson electrical workers, but may include special welding to
electrical equipment in energized stations provided such work is supervised by a qualified electrical Journeyperson.
  • A General Tradesperson may be assisted by a Driver/Helper.
  • Employees in these categories will be required to perform work of many kinds but the amount of work of any kind available
is so limited that it would be impracticable to limit one employee to any one class of work.
  • The definitions of the classifications are accordingly indicative only of the qualifications and duties of the employees
concerned.
  • In addition to the above, General Tradesperson may be required to install duct. Where this work is performed in stations
an electrical Journeyperson shall be present during installation and they may be called on to take charge of the crew.

What you bring

  • As per IBEW Collective Agreement.
  • BC Trade qualification or Interprovincial Red Seal Endorsement
  • Basic computer skills and use with Microsoft programs and applications
  • Valid B.C. Class 5 driver's licence
  • It would be preferred that the successful candidates have a high level of proficiency in at least two building trades and a
basic understanding of other trades associated with building maintenance
  • Strong commitment to safety, WorkSafeBC requirements and safe working practices
  • Familiarity with Provincial building code, WorkSafeBC and other applicable codes related to building operation and
maintenance
