Operations Process Engineer - Central Region (full time)

Reporting to the Area Manager, the Central Region Process Engineer is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable and efficient daily operation of Linde’s Air Separation and Carbon Dioxide plants throughout Ontario. The Central Region Process Engineer provides day-to-day technical support with emphasis on productivity improvements, process efficiency, and process safety.
What you will enjoy doing*
- In this role, you will lead cost reduction and Six Sigma productivity initiatives aimed at improving operational performance, efficiency, and overall plant profitability
- You will monitor key plant performance indicators, identify inefficiencies, and implement solutions to support consistent, reliable plant operations
- A key part of the role involves providing technical expertise to resolve complex process issues, including product recovery, pressure drop concerns, vent losses, purity performance, equipment efficiency, and cooling system optimization
- You will lead plant thaw activities and provide support for turnaround planning and execution to help ensure safe and efficient maintenance events
- The role includes providing process safety leadership through activities such as Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), alarm management, and incident investigations
- You will champion a strong safety culture while supporting compliance with critical safety systems, operating standards, and corporate safety requirements
- Supporting employee development is an important aspect of the role, including delivering process-related training and providing technical guidance to operations and instrumentation teams
- You will identify, develop, and execute small capital projects that improve plant reliability, efficiency, and operational performance
- The position involves leading or participating in root cause investigations, cross-functional improvement teams, equipment analyses, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Success in the role requires maintaining a strong understanding of operating procedures, maintenance standards, engineering requirements, and best practices to support safe and effective plant operations
What makes you great*
- The role is ideal for someone with a university degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, combined with a strong technical foundation in industrial operations
- You will bring approximately 5+ years of experience in engineering, production operations, or a similar industrial environment
- Experience with Air Separation Units (ASUs), industrial gas processes, and related equipment would be a strong asset and help you make an immediate impact
- The position requires strong time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to balance multiple high-impact initiatives while delivering results
- You will thrive in a collaborative environment, working effectively with a variety of stakeholders and cross-functional teams to solve complex operational challenges
- A solid understanding of P&IDs, electrical and instrumentation schematics, and field devices such as valves, analyzers, sensors, and PLCs is important for success in the role
- Strong technical knowledge of Process Safety Management principles, including PHA, MOC, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA), is essential to support safe and reliable plant operations
- The role is best suited for someone who is adaptable, positive, and relationship-focused, with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments
- You will be comfortable working independently as well as leading and participating in cross-functional teams, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accountability
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is expected, and strong written, verbal, and presentation skills in both French and English would be a significant asset
