Position Overview: Outreach Specialist

We’re seeking an experienced and empathetic Family Outreach Specialist to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in diverse environments, is passionate about supporting families, and excels at designing and delivering strength-based interventions that create meaningful, lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct client intakes and develop individualized service plans in collaboration with the Client Care Manager.
  • Provide one-on-one support to children, youth, and families in homes, schools, or community settings.
  • Engage ‘hard-to-reach’ families and reduce barriers to service through consistent, relationship-based outreach.
  • Develop and implement behavioural strategies using ABA, DBT, CBT, or other evidence-based modalities.
  • Collaborate across Mareas’ multidisciplinary team (Therapists, Case Managers, Specialized Workers) to ensure seamless support.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, reports, and case notes.
  • Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and ongoing training initiatives.
  • Represent Mareas professionally when liaising with schools, agencies, and community partners.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Psychology, Social Work, Child & Youth Care, DSW, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience working with children, youth, and families.
  • At least 2 years experience designing and implementing Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, attachment theory, and child development.
  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage schedules, and adapt to evolving client needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital documentation systems.

Other Requirements

  • Flexible availability (after-school hours and weekends often required).
  • Willingness to travel within assigned regions; reliable vehicle with valid license, insurance, and $2M liability coverage.
  • Clear Broad Spectrum Police Check
  • Physically capable of engaging in active work with children and youth.
  • Commitment to attend team meetings, supervision, and training sessions (in-person or virtual).

  • Do you have a degree in Social Work, Human Studies, Child & Youth, or a Diploma in SSW, DSW, CYC in an accredited Canadian College/University?
  • Have you created resources or Behaviour Plans for children, youth or families?
  • Do you understand that you will be supporting children in both the Hamilton & Niagara area and will be asked to dedicate days in each area? (Based out of office locations in Fonthill & Stoney Creek)

Experience:

  • direct work with children & Youth with Autism or ADS?: 5 years (required)
