Information and Technology Services: Summer Student Opportunity

JOB OVERVIEW:
This project involves a comprehensive, district-wide technology refresh and maintenance cycle during the summer school closure. The successful student candidate will work alongside our Network Technologists to prepare educational and administrative technology for the upcoming academic year. Key project initiatives include mass computer imaging and deployment, upgrading and repairing classroom interactive technology (such as projectors and smartboards), and testing critical facility infrastructure, including video surveillance, P.A. systems, and door entry systems. This project is specifically designed to provide the student with meaningful, hands-on IT experience in a large-scale educational environment while delivering vital operational support to the Information and Technology Services team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Configure, image, and deploy Windows 11 and ChromeOS for entire computer labs and mobile carts simultaneously
- Learn remote device management using Microsoft Intune and Chrome Administration
- Shadow IT professionals to diagnose and fix hardware, software, and Wi-Fi connectivity issues
- Assist in replacing network hardware and setting up IP security cameras, phones, and door-buzzer systems
- Learn the basics of Microsoft Azure/EntraID for user identity, security, data quotas, and print/license management
- Install, test, and repair interactive Smartboards and projectors
- Clean up, route, and rewire messy cables and mobile charging carts
- Unbox new tech, apply asset tags, and audit school inventory
- Securely pack and transport IT equipment to various district sites; sort outdated technology for e-waste recycling
- Work alongside IT Leaders and Technologists on special end-of-summer projects
- Develop resume-building skills in teamwork, time management, logistics, and professional communication
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Our summer student positions are made available through grant funding and to be eligible for this position, students must be currently enrolled in a secondary, or post-secondary institution or within six (6) months of graduation and must be 15 years of age upon commencement of employment
- Must demonstrate teamwork and communication skills
