Landscape Maintenance and Snow Removal Crew Member

Our landscape maintenance and snow teams work together to ensure the highest standards of care are being met while we service commercial and residential properties throughout Ottawa. Main Purpose of Job:

Our crews help to maintain beautiful outdoor spaces for our commercial and residential clients and safely and efficiently assist in completing an assigned snow route with the necessary equipment.

Pay Range:

$21-$26

Requirements:

  • Experience or training in landscape maintenance, enhancements, or gardening
  • Some horticulture training is preferred
  • Ability to both take and give direction in a team environment
  • Must enjoy working outdoors
  • Have a keen eye for detail and take pride in their work
  • Willingness to work in all types of weather and at irregular times
  • Winter roles require on-call availability 24-7, with 1 hour response time

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Core Values of Wild Ridge Landscapes: Relationships, Integrity, Leadership, Professionalism, and Creativity
  • Grass cutting with riding and push mowers and trimmers
  • Execute landscape enhancements project installations such as planting, pruning, mulching, amending soil, grading, and sodding, as instructed by crew leads and managers
  • Remove weeds and plant material in small and large scale garden renovations
  • Leaf, litter, and debris cleanup required in spring and fall
  • Other tasks such as topdressing/overseeding/sodding etc.
  • Ensure job sites are clean, safe, and organized throughout project duration
  • Use Wild Ridge software for tracking hours and completing health and safety forms etc.
  • Responsible for all winter snow clearing and related activities as assigned by Crew Leaders and Supervisors
  • Assisting teammates to efficiently clear large areas
  • Clearing snow using tools like snowblowers, shovels, and rakes
  • Salting and de-icing sidewalks, stairs, driveways, and entrances
  • Marking safety hazards on clients' properties with appropriate signage
  • Heavy lifting is a requirement and a key part of the job
  • Safe handling of gasoline, oils, diesel fuels, grease and other equipment related fluids etc.
  • Shop work, vehicle and equipment maintenance activities as assigned

Working Conditions:

  • In early spring and late fall crew members may be asked to work in cold weather temperatures where they need to dress warmly.
  • In mid summer crew members may be asked to work in hot weather temperatures and need to drink plenty of fluids, be responsible about sunscreen use, wear hats and ensure they take appropriate breaks.
  • Employees will be asked to work in mild to very cold weather conditions. This may include icy roads and stormy skies.
  • In all seasons, employees need to be prepared to be asked to work in rainy conditions and to bring appropriate gear such as rain jackets.
  • Crew members can expect to occasionally be exposed to chemicals such as gasoline and lubricants.

Physical Requirements:

Strength Guidelines

  • Crew members can expect to be asked to lift up to 50 lbs.

Motion Parameters

  • Crew members can expect to be on their feet for long periods of time.
  • The job requires walking, bending and repetitive lifting.
